Aptus -

You managed to get to sector 8 on normal difficulty on your first try? Wow, I'm really impressed.

I was actually having so much trouble with normal difficulty that I actually took the game back to easy difficulty, just to make sure that I wasn't going nuts. Turned out I wasn't, thankfully - my improved skills from normal play let me coast through easy for a big win (although not quite as flawless as my first win - without cloak I took quite a bit more damage,) but I still haven't gotten to sector 8 on normal.

I think I did just got lucky with the random events. I restarted with the Engi Cruiser I unlocked and got creamed in sector 2.

But still, is that all there is to the game?
Yeah pretty much. However there are seven different ships you can play (which ALL play VERY differently), and two different layouts for each.
The difference between starting with an ion weapon and a drone (and drone bay) VS a burst laser and a missile is huge vs just a Pike beam is huge, and completely changes your strategy and what you do for the first few sections (and how you are built at the end).

Good job on getting to the final sector on your first ship.

I really like the engi ship, its pretty powerful up until the strength 4 sheilds and final boss (which have killed all my engis due to me not getting good enough regular weapons).

This is the point where I'm basically just staring at a clock.

Why?

I have no internet money and need to wait for it to reach Steam before an awesome person gifts it to me.

Turn on speakers.

I had that happen to me, and usually restarting the game appears to work. Alternatively, try to verify game cache on Steam and check their forums, as I seem to recall seeing something like that over there :)

Yeah, getting to the last sector on the first run is luck. I've gotten there twice. Once I died against the flagship, the other time it was almost trivial to kill it. Two burst lasers is enough for just about anything! I think I also had the initial artemis missile, which made big kabooms.

I love the Engi, but it's super hard on the 4 shield enemies like someone said. You NEED to find the drone recovery thing and get as many drones as possible. Also, I think getting burst lasers is probably a good idea since it takes down shields, and the drones can do the rest.

I've also found myself timing my shots a lot more carefully lately. I had gotten used to the autofire, which can wreak havoc on the ability of your guns to penetrate the shields.

You guys are making me want to play some more :)

On the upside, it's a small game. You won't have to wait to much to get it :)

Second try, normal difficulty, final destination sixth sector, 983 points. This game is... brütal. In a good way.

Edit: Fuck my luck.

And just as I had a good run. :(

It is not instadeath ot jump into rebel sector.

If you are strong enough you can do it quite safely

Yeah, but backtracking like that usually means you're going to be spending multiple jumps within the Rebel fleet - at very least, you're probably going to take some missile damage before you get to jump out - it's certainly not ideal.

Tru. But with some dodging and shooting enemy weapons you should be able to push your luck.

Have you upgraded engines?  ;D
