Question about population cap & difficulty of ambushes/sieges
« on: January 14, 2012, 11:24:30 pm »

If I limit my population to say 50-70. And let sieges happen at 50 dwarfs. Will the ambushes/sieges always have weak-ish enemies?

I mean, if I kept increasing my wealth even with 50 dwarves, would the frequency and difficulty of enemy attacks still increase?

I hope this question makes sense

I certainly hope so. My FPS drops to about 50 from 100 when I get 80 dwarfs for whatever reason.

Sieges are in direct proportion to wealth.

FPS is in direct proportion to the number of anything in the embark area at any one time, including clothes by invaders, animals, dwarves, liquids, cave-ins...

Note that, there are certain checkpoints (for lack of a word) that activate hidden goals in your Dwarven Society.

Edit: Exactly 80 Dwarves?

When my population cap exceeds 80 dwarfs my FPS drops to half. If I'm lucky it'll get to around 65-80.

This is probably due to the fact that my computer isn't fantastic. But once I hit 80 dwarfs my fps just cuts in half.

For all your FPS needs.
I've tryed most of the things listed there, a few have worked. But sadly my dreams of 140+ dwarfs are just that till I upgrade my PC.

Cheers though.

Just so you know, DF is single core. Anything more than that is a complete waste of resources if you're building it to play DF.

DF tends to lag alot anyway, regardless of your PC. Many forts are abandoned because the lag becomes too unbearable to play.

Thanks, I didn't know that. ( Building the PC for many other games however )

I will try some more of the things listed on the wiki again.
