I wouldn't really call it conquering, because no one owns it.
But yes, you can take it. E.V.I.L abandoned it, so they won't care.

It's very unlikely that they'd ever find the ruins, unless you led them to it, but if you led them to it they'd become the least of your worries: E.V.I.L would go after you too because it's connected to their tunnel system, and having E.V.I.L after you is a lot worse.

Considering their apparent rarity, would a nation sooner surrender than take on a fully accomplished Demigod? Now that I think about it, a level 20 defensively built melee player should easily be able to shrug off anything a normal army could throw at him.

It would depend. A nation could easily take on a Demigod (Unless the Demigod has an Army of their own, but they'd still be able to take them on.)

Adding a few things from Modieval, to Medieval. Such as non-auto-regenerating-health-when-out-of-combat. So stock up on your bandages and healing potions.

I'll possibly add proper hunger and thirst, eventually.

Can Melritch just replace his own bones? Bandages and potions don't do him much good.

Bandages won't work, because you can't bleed, but potions would. You'd be doomed if you had to walk around with a crate full of bones that you had to pop into place every time someone whacked you with a stick.
