Can you give me more information on the weapon specialties? I'm assuming it indicates that each race has its own tech now? Are there any "shamanic" traditions (as in they revere nature, communicate with spirits, etc. Like a druid, but...not, I guess)? What types of magical institutions are there?

That would be correct.

Not really. Orcs were previously a little shamanistic, but that died out by the time Modieval takes place. Elven/Gnomish Druids are the closest thing to that, unless you wanted to be a bit of a unique character.

The Mages' Guild still rules supreme. They have universities spread around almost everywhere.

The Mages' Guild does of course, use modern technology, and they're opposed to the evil in the world. However, they don't actively band together, and hunt it down like a group of Technomancer Superheroes if that's what you had in mind.

You could always start that order yourself though.

For example, what is Human tech known for? Orc tech? Basically just a sentence or two describing each one.

Ooh, okay, I misinterpreted that. For weapon specialties?

Human Technology: It's pretty much what you'd come to expect from humans. Their weapons are average across the board, although their is more emphasis on firearms.

Dwarvern Technology: Their weaponry is based around Shotguns, Rifles, Explosive Weaponry, Axes and Hammers.

Elven Technology: Elves don't use firearms at all, but they've surpassed Dwarves as far as Melee weaponry, and Bows go. (Save for Hammers and Axes)

Thelenawen Technology: A mixture of more Human/Average, and Elven/Old Technology. (They prefer using mixtures of old and new weapons.)

Orcish: Their weaponry is based around two handed weapons, Shotguns, Automatic Weaponry, and Heavy Weaponry. A lot of their heavier weapons can only be used by the strongest of the other races.

Goblin: Their weaponry is based around Spears/Polearms, Pistols and Rifles.

Gnomish: They aren't really known for their weaponry, but they make good pistols.

Heh. Caboose went from being a pure mage, to being a mage knight with god-tattoos, and now he's a parkouring mage rogue.

Character's Age: 28
Character's Description: Caboose has silver eyes, long, drooping ears, and long, white hair. Due to the bother his hair becomes, Caboose wears the hair that falls behind his shoulders in a loose ponytail. He stands at an overbearing 8'3" bringing him difficulties when he stands in most buildings.
Character's History: Caboose was born in an unknown land, under unknown circumstances, and without any care for his survival. He was raised by two caretakers his parents had left for him until he became old enough to use magic. At that point, Caboose was five, and his caretakers left him. He was forced to learn how to cook, hunt, track, and fight for the next 12 years. And from these strange circumstances came the nature behind his birth. Caboose traveled most of the world by this time, and it was at this point that he found part of the true nature behind his birth. Much like everything else he learned, he could learn magic simply from observation and theory. A feat thought impossible.
For five years after he discovered this ability, Caboose studied arcane magic in the forest he learned to hunt and cook in. While his own ability couldn't keep up with his growth in the field, his pure knowledge in the field surpassed even most known standards. From this knowledge he developed the ability to speak with elementals formed naturally within the world. The next five years after, Caboose focused more on improving his running techniques, becoming more agile, trying to find the fastest way through the forest, eventually becoming fast enough to outrun even the fastest of predators surrounding him. In this time, he learned a small amount of other forms of magic, but never from his own attempts.
Caboose left the forest on his 28th birthday, intent on forming his own guild of mages to be built in his territory.

Character's Description: Darius stands around six feet and three inches. He has long, shaggy blond hair and is incredibly gaunt and lean. His eyes were both once a bright blue, but one has since faded into a dark and bloody red. In the dark, it sometimes has been known to let off a slight, almost imperceptible glow. No doubt this is the Ear Worm's influence.
Character's History: Darius was raised a human, by humans. His parents were rather secular, though he still occasionally took part in celebrations of the local deity, and for all intents and purposes it appeared as if Darius was going to become another wage slave, wasting his life away in a cubicle. That is, until one day he was visited by an "ear worm," some magical (and possibly malevolent) entity which took up residence in his mind and soul. It guided him, showing him the path that he would need to take in order to enter into a world of magic and the unknown. In particular, it granted in him an interest in the long dead art of Orc Shamanism.
Darius goes by "Red Eye" now, on account of his odd appearance. He has undergone several adventures already, and has learned through practice in both the real world and the realm of dreams how to handle a variety of different weapons- mostly all modern. Though Darius primarily keeps to himself, seeking only to better his own life and his knowledge of the magic that pervades this world (choosing to not get tied up in the bureaucratic hellhole that is the mage's guild), he has been known to go out of his way to aid others in manners magical and mundane.
