Seriously Azthor. Why are you trying to kill me again? I've stopped showing signs of aggression, and have stopped moving entirely. What is your beef with Caboose right now?

I agree with you there. With both Stat Points and Meditation's effects scalings, higher level characters do wind up far stronger. I had just previously assumed it was a linear progression.

Also, Lillipad, simply keeping you immobile isn't of much use... And letting you rebel would be both a strike against Melritch's pride and an unecessary risk... After all, you did see the tower. Phlebotinum Rebels shall not be tolerated. Look up the meaning of that term in TVTropes.

And, if he takes you down to 0 Health you'll just be considered Heavily Injured again, he won't actually kill you unless he specifically states he wants, once combat is over.

What threat does a guy who's stopped moving and has lost interest in fighting back pose to you?

So why did you kill me, Azthor?
One more attempted murder averted, thanks to the blessings of the benevolent GM!

Murder? I wanted you immobilized. Putting a pointy object through your heart is simply the most convenient way of doing so, as, in high fantasy, it often simply paralyzes a vampire. If I really wanted to kill you off I'd have gone for decapitation right away.

In high fantasy the only way to kill a vampire is a steak through the heart or sunlight. Since the sunlight was averted to only being while hungry, it was safe to assume that anything through the heart would be enough to kill me.

This is apparently not the case here, because you are not dead.

Here is D&D's 2 cents on the matter, as an example: Slaying a Vampire: Reducing a vampire’s hit points to 0 or lower incapacitates it but doesn’t always destroy it (see the note on fast healing). However, certain attacks can slay vampires. Exposing any vampire to direct sunlight disorients it: It can take only a single move action or attack action and is destroyed utterly in the next round if it cannot escape. Similarly, immersing a vampire in running water robs it of one-third of its hit points each round until it is destroyed at the end of the third round of immersion. Driving a wooden stake through a vampire’s heart instantly slays the monster. However, it returns to life if the stake is removed, unless the body is destroyed. A popular tactic is to cut off the creature’s head and fill its mouth with holy wafers (or their equivalent).

Also, it seems I DID pin you to the surface through your heart.

I've already said I didn't die from the heart thing.
And as far as I've seen, only a small amount of this game runs on D&D logic. Because none of what you've listed has been stated as being a possibility. Because if the game did run on D&D logic, Caboose would be dead anyway while pinned to the table, and he would have recovered from damage during combat.

It isn't there anymore because I wound up editing the post, but in the same post where I mentioned using a stake there was, in parenthesis, "or, if that'd be lethal in this setting, have him heavily chained up".

You had nice, reliably non-lethal chains, but you decided to stab me through the heart with my own sword. I honestly can't get angry at you over that, it's just too sensible a decision for an evil character to make to get angry over.

Oh, you can thank Anonimouse for the ironic bit involving your sword, I didn't know it was the nearest pointy object.  :P
Still, you are free to go and seek a cure if you run this one errand.

Do a Dante and pull yourself all the way up and out of your sword, leaving it stuck there. :P
