I honestly didn't know I was going to fight you until it was mentioned. Then I did it because I thought we'd both have PvP resistance like Christopher did, and then the RNG god came along and screwed me. Like I said, I had no way to technically win, and a 1/screwed chance of surviving.

Err, he's not trying to kill you, but obviously he doesn't want you to just waltz out of the tower after he went through the trouble of turning you into a vampire.

His backup for if I can escape early is to cast stone-thingy on me. That would almost definitely kill me again.

Well, I might as well learn the vampified benefits before I go off dying again.

Also, Melritch currently outwills you severely, you are unlikely to succed at resisting his commands. Still, look at this way: unlike a lich, you can usually pass for a human. That also means I am having you contact EVIL, but you are free to stumble on your plots from there onwards.

It wasn't stated that willpower has anything to do with your allowed cheating.

When you're well fed you get a bonus of (Level * 2) to All of your Stats while in Darkness, or (Level * 1) to All of your Stats when in sunlight. However, if you go without feeding for a while, sunlight becomes fatally dangerous, and being close to Garlic and other such things, regardless of how well fed you are, will negate your bonuses entirely.

So a level 40 well fed vampire in the dark would basically be a walking nuke.

Level 20 is pretty much the highest, realistically reachable level. But yes, they're very powerful as long as they aren't up against vampire hunters, or anyone who knows what they're doing.

While that may well be true, by the time someone has hit level 40 other equally OP things will have popped up. Does the setting allow for a lich to transform into a demilich by the 20th level?

Once you reach level 20 you're pretty much a Demigod, so I don't see why not.

At level 20, a well fed in-dark vampire would effectively be 40 levels higher. In the light, it would be double the level. You'd have to try to find something similar in level that could stand up to that for more than a few turns.
