Asha glanced at Tala. She didn't trust either of the men but especially not Rhett, who had made the mistake of mentioning something important - possibly important enough to start a war over, which would cost many people their lives - and then lying about it. "That's your business, then, I suppose. I won't detain you any longer." She shrugged and made a move as if to leave; Rhett clearly wasn't going to be forthcoming with any information and Feleris was ignoring them, anyway.

Feleris

A. It took some work to whisper this to Rhett without making his mouth movements obvious, covering it with a pseudo-cough, "Then we'll take the extra precaution. Very open by the way, that move there. They have good hearing." He looked at Asha. "We don't yet know what this war is all about, and assumptions won't help unless we're working without any source of information. Forgive me if I've caused offense, as I don't know how to refer to human nobility in a respectful way, other than first names."

Tala was no diplomat, but she noticed this was not going well. Asha had little patience for subterfuge and wordplay. It had been one of the reasons she had never tried to be an Heirblade...

She made to gently grab her sisters arm before she could storm off.

"Listen, it's clear you two have secrets-and so do we.

But, we all have a common goal here. Why don't we all work together for a bit, learn the answers to the questions we're both seeking? I believe together, we can be granted an audience to speak with your leaders, most likely...and maybe we can earn each others trust, as well."

(I'd like to point out neither of you were whispering until just now, so Asha, Tala, and the Orc heard everything up until Rhett started whispering about there being only one key.)

Asha shrugged. Bad enough the elf was a sneaky little liar, but her younger sister crushing on him was even worse. She wasn't especially attached to the Blackstone name but their mother would be quite angry indeed if Tala brought an elf home, and she would get yelled at as well for not even trying to head this thing off before anything could happen. "If that is what you wish, sister. So be it." She crossed her arms, unhappy about the fact Tala was clearly more interested in hanging around Feleris than actually trying to figure out what was going on. Earn each other's trust. I haven't heard that euphemism before, she thought, eying the elf out of the corner of her eye before turning to Tala. "If you're sure, although I have no idea what the secrets you say we're keeping are."

[Tiruin]

"Right." Feleris replied in the most sincere tone he could afford, "First impressions, arguments and dirty little secrets for later then. I'm sure we can fix that, as we're all here for the same reason." He gestured lightly towards the Palace with his thumb. "So I take it the meeting is in the the Palace, Orc?" He stepped back, to give way for the three, if they chose to move.

"Yes, but no one is permitted to enter the palace now. You won't have any luck trying to walk in on their meeting." The Orc replies.

A. "Does this include people with power? We have two right here," he replied to the Orc while trying to make his voice sound as respectful as he could to the ears of the humans. "If they're meeting in there, most likely a War Council of a sort, then knowledge should be shared. I don't see any human bodyguards or any tents with their insignias or banners anywhere here. If there will be war, it would be pretty close to the human territory, and I doubt both sides would deny information to a neutral power."

He didn't think it sounded well, though.

"I know that they are nobles, and it is still doubtful you'd be allowed into the meeting." The orc replies.

She half shrugged to Asha, a sneaky smile on her face-she had used the same look when they were children, after Tala had done something like breaking a vase or gotten caught red handed stealing sweets from the kitchens..

She stepped forward alongside Feleris.

"...He's right about this. As heirblade of the Blackstone family, it's likely my peoples land your armies will be trampling through. I believe we are owed a bit of respect in this matter-since, we are honor-bound to report what transpires in any case, we would prefer a clear accounting of events.

Contact your superior, Orc-tell him if we do not get a clear answer, we shall be consulting the Southern Elves for their side of the story."

"I do not understand how you would expect me to contact the Warlord, if you, as a noble, can not yourself." The orc replies.

Tala looked a bit perturbed. She was getting tired of the run around. In fact, she was beginning to suspect something was very wrong here. Why was everyone so evasive? Her gaze lingered to Feleris for a moment, then she snapped back to attention a bit hastily.

"Um...don't you Orcs have a chain of command? Ugh, never mind.

Perhaps we should go to the palace and demand an audience. It'd be faster, at least. What do you all think?"

A. Agree with Tala

The Elf shrugged. If this means getting under politics and the pressures of war, then he was against it. If this meant helping others out, especially strangers in a new land, then he was fine with it.

He just kept silent either way and nodded in agreement to Tala's question.

"I have no say in all this other than a witness, but I'll accompany you all if you'd need support in other, racial matters. I don't see why they would deny you all, though."

'Oh the joy of subterfuge...'

The four of you walk to the Palace, but you are stopped by a guard.
"By order of our lord, no one is permitted to enter the Palace Grounds at this time."

A. The Elf stepped back, back behind Tala and Asha, staying at the very rear of the four, moving in a way as to show who was in command and keeping silent. He was interested in how the humans would handle this, in both of them.

[Dwarmin]

Tala nodded.

Her voice radiated the authority of her station.

"Very well. I would not force a conflict on these grounds.

Tell your Lord we are Noblewomen, Human emissaries from the Blackstone lands and surrounding baronies-and we're seeking answers as to what exactly going on here, since it will directly impact us.

Tell your Lord we would greatly appreciate his assistance, in pursuance of this matter-and that we will be waiting here, for when he is ready to receive us. Do not keep us waiting for long."

She motioned to Feleris and his friend, suppressing an ignoble grin.

"...and those two, are our bodyguards. They will accompany us to any meeting."
