Battlefield 2: Complete Collection CTD

So I have Battlefield 2 and I recently reinstalled it. Problem is that it doesn't want to work this time. When I try to load a map it reaches 100% and I get a CTD.

I have Windows Vista and have run the game successfully before.

Check the game's configurations.  You might be inadvertently trying to use something your computer doesn't support.  Then Google the game name and see if it shows anything.  Then try Windows compatibility options.  If all three fail, come back.

Still crashes after re-install and patching. The expansions shouldn't matter as I'm trying to load up Sharqui Peninsula. It's very annoying because it ran all last year with AIX and then suddenly, BAM. No game for me.
I have a sinking feeling it's because I updated my video drivers to play Skyrim.

try this if you haven't already: rightclick -> properties -> compatibility -> check the boxes that sound like they might be relevant -> try playing -> repeat if necessary
i was never masochistic enough to run vista, and i havent booted my windows7 box in a while so i don't exactly remember the optionnames, but back when i was regularly playing, the described method has Always™ worked ;) (one of the finest multiplayer shooters of all time btw)
