Wow. Okay, so Powder Miner. That was an awfully defensive post for a little bit of pressure.
I love that hypocrisy there.
Quote from: Gryph
But here's the one major thing I noticed, the biggest thing. You didn't follow up on Web. He blew you right the fuck off. And you ignored it.

Why didn't you follow up on Web?

When you're ready to answer that, let's move on.
He did blow me off. Huh, didn't really think about that because I was thinking about your post.

Quote from: Gryph
Oh, I thought you meant something specific aside from the glaringly obvious. Yes I will hunt scum and lynch them. "Hunt scum" doesn't even qualify as an approach (it's how you kinda have to play the game) and I was supposed to answer with that? If I was, let me respond with a question similar to yours.
Yes, except you didn't tell me you had no particular approach in mind. You told me you had no plan. Pardon me if I'm jumping at shadows here, but the change is not, in my mind, a minor one. Townies can have strategies and approaches, but they do not, generally, have plans, because the only plan they need is lynching scum. And that would have been a pretty terrible answer, because it wasn't responding to the question I fucking asked. And since you're approach seems to be "Random vote and pointless question someone who's already said things worth commenting on", maybe you SHOULD have spent more time thinking up a better approach.
Yes I told you I had no plan. Because plans can also mean that, for example the BSER quadrilynch plan had a quick-aggressive style of lean towards it and I thought you were asking a question in reference to it. But I see I was giving you too much credit. Anyway, it's not a pointless question, and as I've already said I want to know more about the game. I would have spent time thinking of an approach except for the fcat that I know nothing about the game but my role. Process that for a moment.

Quote from: Gryph
Is your forum account name GryphGlyph?
Yes. What did you hope to learn from asking me that?
Nothing. I was echoing your apparent wanting of obvious answers. (Lol are you going to hunt scum)

Quote from: Gryph
In any event, I thought you meant if I had a particular way of doing things, a strategic outlook of sorts, would I go especially all-out or would I remain looking at posts, that sort of thing. (Because that's what having an approach is, in case you didn't know.)
I did know that. Which is found it so odd you seemed so confused, not about approach, but about what you should be doing at all. You not only didn't have any approach in mind, any strategy for scumhunting, you said (and acted like) you literally had no plan at all yet. Plans are for scum. Also, you know what would have been a good response, if you WERE to be asked what your plan was? You could have actually spent some time thinking up an answer.
It's because I don't know a thing about the game. This is my second or third post, you're acting like I'm not scumhunting and I've been bloating up posts and active lurking. That is bull.

Quote from: Gryph
Here, this would have been a good start:
Just a quick note: That's good advice for everyone, but I'm sure most of the people in this game are awfully familiar with it by now.

Simply put - if you don't have a plan for finding scum, fucking get one, because sitting back and waiting for them to come to you is going to make the town lose. (But then, you'd like that, wouldn't you?)
That did nothing except make scrolling to quote it annoying. I already told you I'm going to scumhunt. That's not what the approach is about. Approach, not "are you going to scumhunt idiotic obvious question durr hurr"

Quote from: Gryph
I don't want the day to end earlier. I hoped to nullify any progress you would make towards a shorten. I would think that would be kind of obvious, but then again you seem to have difficulty with things that are obvious.
Thats a bullshit explanation, and you know it. If anyone else had requested a shorten, you'd have had plenty of time to oppose it then, plus a little more information. So what exactly is your reasoning?
Mine: A Day Shorten gets responses. Responses, especially day 1, help find scum. In addition, shortens add pressure - people respond, because they are suddenly unsure on whether or not they'll have time to respond later. I'm also impatient, and like shorter days (there's a reason I run quick bastards), and see extra time as the lead killer of games. Essentially, I have a whole host of fairly strong reasons to start off with a shorten.
Now, detail your reasons as to why, exactly, you'd not only oppose a shorten, but destroy my ability to use it to pressure scum for no actual purpose beyond "nullifying progress" of something that is clearly not going to fucking happen with this play group? Because, really, that's what you did. You screwed it up. And saying "you didn't want the day to be shorter" is a bullshit reason - even if my original reason was just as bullshit. And it was! But you used the opportunity to make a weak personal attack and defend yourself instead of using it to attack me.
I didn't want the day to be shorter. It's entirely true. You act like opposing a D1 Shorten is a big deal anyway, it's not, it's what anyone who's town would do. So what did I screw up? Your plan to shorten the day? Right after you told me you weren't doing that? ...Try making more sense. Also I made the insult because I was getting pissed with your tone. Insult me, I insult you.

Quote from: Gryph
I missed the post, not hard to do with a oneword post. I saw further discussion about it, assumed it was in a larger post, and went on. Anyway, it's not a pointless RVS. When I say I know nothing about the game, I mean I know nothing about the game. I was trying to gather information, like you might like the town not to do.
Come on. There was, what, a whopping 7 fucking posts to read? And you decide to target web, who is notoriously hard to read, supposedly, with a couple lameass questions, conveniently ignoring his post which would have been fairly easy to read, since it was only one word, and fairly easy to notice, since the whole thing was in red. That's not just laziness or stupidity - that's feeling the need to do put on an appearance (of scumhunting) without putting in the actual effort of doing it.
One oneword post is not 7 posts. I literally did not see that. Deal with it.

My plan isn't anything other than identify and lynch the scum. I said I didn't have a special plan for coming into the game. This doesn't mean "O-ho conspiracies if he answers my question with a correct meaning of having an approach instead of my incorrect one HE IS SCUM WHO DOESN'T WANT TO LYNCH SCUM HAHA!" And why would I ask easylynch questions? It isn't scumhunting, doesn't help town.
And why would I ask easylynch questions? It isn't scumhunting, doesn't help town.
What does this even mean? Please, expound, what is an "easylynch question", exactly?
It's a question that has no purpose other than to follow into an easy lynch.

I'd just like to say that I hope PM and GG are getting good reads on each other, because I'm not really reading those very much. Be prepared to give a concise summary when you expect others to care.

Then do some fucking hunting. Lets be honest here - you've done nothing since this game started but freak out because I asked you a few questions and made a few accusations of suspicious behaviour. As far as I'm concerned at this point, you're scum - but I'll need a bit more evidence before I'm likely to convince anyone of it.

So if you ARE town, do me a favour and make it more difficult by actually doing some goddamn hunting. Got it?

...how? I'm honestly not seeing the connection between a day shorten and a night plan here - what are you seeing that I'm not?

To what, exactly?
I call you passive, and you decide to go hyper-aggression.

I was responding passively to you because there's been no particular reason not to? Seriously, I think I learned more from other people's responses to your vote than I would have contesting it somehow - as if there was anything to contest. You voted me with no justification because you wanted to see me lynched. Big whoop. Whatever you're looking for, I wish you luck in finding it, but if you really wanted me lynched that's not the way you'd go about it - as near I can tell, you're trying to get reactions, which means you're hunting, in your own special way, and since there's nothing to defend against and I've got nothing approaching a feeling for you being scum, there honestly hasn't been a reason to give you any more of a response than I have until now, because you finally made something approaching a claim.

So, really, what's up?

Words words words

I'm with IronyOwl when I say I have no intention of reading that.

It does look like an awfully nervous overreaction. What's got you freaking out that you have to make a humongous post and quote gospel to support your points (whatever they are)?

Words words words

I'm also not reading this.

What are you getting at about GlryphGrlyph?

GlyphGryph: Your shorten does get answers, yes, but it also does imply that you have some kind of plan for the night too, other than baiting scum in that is.

I'm really wondering how requesting a shorten means he wants to get to the night sooner because he is scum.

It's not anything I've seen before, but I don't see the connection.

Jim, how many bad dudes do you think we have in here?

Tiruin, who would you inspect tonight as a cop? Protect as a doctor? Kill as a vig? Kill as scum?

Think, preferred scumteam? Who among town would you most want as a doctor, cop, and vig, assuming one of each?

Irony: My dream team is Jim and Webadict, as I imagine it'd be one of the most controlling scum teams ever. Assuming I'm not allowed to take the easy way out, I'd say you and Leafsnail. We worked well as scumbuddies in some game (can't remember which right now, I think Paranormal), and Leafsnail's very solid.

webadict: I presume you meant Tiruin instead of me, as I hadn't actually answered anything yet and you were responding to Tiruin's post.

Urist_McArathos: Suppose you were a JOAT with the standard loadout. When and who would you use your abilities on?

If it scares people into posting, then yes.

If they end up lynched because they didn't post, oh well. Too bad for them. Maybe they should've tried posting.

I'm thinking along the lines of any power role, not specifically if he is scum.

Unvote

Think0028: I don't think he meant you by his post, or who he replied to in his first sentence meant you at all. It was for me, I guess.

Powder Miner and GlyphGryph: Why continue the battle on each other this early? From what I see, making a duel here would only impact a very small part of us thirteen. Also, I have a tiny inkling lurking in the back of my head saying that this will not end well for town if you both pool your energies on this.

Dariush: Do you have a good reason as to why we shouldn't lynch you right now?
Yes, I do.

Because I want the day to end earlier, obviously. Why are you opposing it? Keep in mind there's practically no risk of the day actually being shortened from one vote. This, though? This opposition to the shorten? What, exactly, did you hope to gain - other than trying to look like a brave towny by opposing the shorten?
...
Please, go into detail - why did you feel the need to shorten?
Even ignoring the obvious contradiction up there... WHAT THE FUCK? Did you shorten just to set up the first player who opposes it, GG?
Also, it looks like you looked through all interactions of PM (who is among the newest players) with other players and promptly attacked for not following an RVS question and then demanded immediate answers because he's online and accused him of doing nothing except defending despite doing the same thing yourself (except replace 'defending' with 'tunneling the fuck out of'. Yeah, you're really out of practice of being scum.

Dariush: If you were the cop, would you base your investigation on your target's visible scumminess (i.e. his/her posts) or on the reputation of that player?
Second - IMO investigating badly readable players is more vital.

What do you think of that, Ottofar?  Lurkers and "not really playing the game at all"ers are bad for the game, right?  Should we be going after lurkers to make sure they don't slip under the radar and ruin the game?

With lack of better targets yes.

No? I did write up a more thorough explanation of why I shortened.

I'm with IronyOwl when I say I have no intention of reading that.
[...]
What are you getting at about GlryphGrlyph?
Don't then. It will still be there later for analysis, if you decide one of us needs it, and if I decide it's worth pursuing a lynch. As to what I'm getting at - I'm getting responses, not just from Powder Miner, but from everyone else. The way people react to an exchange like this is often just as important as the information contained in the exchange itself.

Also, that's not how my name is spelled.

I honestly wasn't a fan of your last post. It sends off all these little scum vibes to me.
You question him about an action clearly intended to and successful at eliciting a response, but completely leave off mention of the fact that he wants you to trust him "because it's good for him"? And see it as the perfect opportunity to jump to an easy target? Just seems a bit off.

The first time I voted you because I didn't like your post.

I kept my vote on you because of how you reacted to the vote. That is passively.

And now I will further keep my vote on you because you have shifted from passive to hyper-aggressive.

Plus, you ignored me for a bit with no real answer, probably because your first reaction was a catastrophic failure. You figure I am just seeing how you play off of me voting you before I go play with something else? Haha. No. Guess not.

webadict: I presume you meant Tiruin instead of me, as I hadn't actually answered anything yet and you were responding to Tiruin's post.
