No, we need to experiment with the unknown chemical. Let'go outside and gather something alive for testing (insects or better).

Well, you'd need a way to make it hot :P Of course, Geology will assist in sparking a flame, since well flint.

Someone should go grab the formula for Clockstop from the original Man of SCIENCE!! and have us try it here.

How come nobody have pointed out the most obvious use of geology; !!MAGMA!! ?
Also, the reason I voted psychiatry is in order to keep any human-intelligence biological creations from rebelling.

You tap your temple thoughtfully as you think of what to do with this new, mysterious mixture. Of course, one of the most logical choices would be to simply inject it into yourself... but what if it is an acid, or a toxin?! That would be completely inconvenient, and not relevant to your agenda. The next best choice would be to simply capture a rat or a mouse to do so... and in that you are in luck! There are massive rat nests in this slum, so it should be no big problem getting one. But, of course, you have to have a place to put the rats at, and you have to have a reliable way to catch them without killing them, which your hammer and/or bonesaw might not be able to facilitate. Of course, you could just grab the unknown chemical and the syringe, and quickly inject any rat that you get your hands on... yes, that could work. Grabbing the chemical and a needle/syringe, you carefully open your door, locking it behind you. It took a good amount of money to get those good locks, and you'd say they'd come in pretty useful.

You pace out into the dank and dirty corridor, carefully looking for any signs of a rats nest. That would mean holes in the walls, and usually a good amount of trash scattered around said hole...(17) Ah, yes! You pace into a room, a room that the locals call the "Rat Maze." It holds many of the holes into the inner workings of where the rats live, and would be the perfect place to wait and look for a rat, and thus you do so. Some time passes, before a group of rats scuttles into the door, and you spring to attention, using your knowledge of how a brain reacts, and your physics skill. (15) You quickly grab one, making sure to hold it's head away from you, lest it attempts to bite you. You quickly inject one unit of the strange chemical into the rat and after several minutes of struggling it... falls asleep? Well, at least you made a powerful sedative... but what else does it do? You ponder on what to do next. Do you take the rat back to your lab, and attempt to design a pen for it? Or do you let it go and try some of the drug yourself?

I suggest to autopsy the rat. Yes I know it's alive, and I don't care. Also If it will not wake up, then we have a good sedative.

Making a pen for it would probably be better.

You glance nervously around, and then decide what to do with the rat: which entails running in a hurry back to your lab, shutting and locking the door behind you, and then rushing over to your surgical table and laying the rat upon it. You're not sure how powerful the sedative that the rat is  currently full of even is, so you'd best hurry. You get a piece of string and quickly strangle the rat, since for an autopsy to even be an autopsy the patient in question has to be dead, right?

Alright. Now, time to SCIENCE!!. You pick up your scalpel and set your forceps and other tools aside. This might take a while...
-AUTOPSY TRANSITION OF SCIENCE!!-
Ah, you're done. (15)
The results are fairly exciting. It appeared that the rat's brain was extremely active, much, much more active than normal (don't ask me how our scientist can determine brain signals by cutting open a dead body). Brain activity usually means an increased amount of calculations, and general intelligence... hmm. You gain much knowledge about the anatomy of the rat, and how to interact and change the various body-parts. A bit more practice and you'll know rats like the back of your hand! Not that the back of your hand is very confusing, but... nevermind. You also took care to attempt to preserve the rat body parts, but you don't have the equipment necessary to do so...
[-1 rat, +knowledge of rat anatomy, +0.28 bio, +0.8 Psychiatry]

You are happy to remember that your hand, again, stayed steady throughout the whole operation. Now, should you attempt that chemical recipe you've had in your head for a while, make more of the mysterious sedative, or perhaps try the remaining sedative yourself? Or you could attempt to begin construction on a rat pen and/or rat catcher, for future rat-related activities.
