So I read this book by George Carlin...
« on: January 09, 2012, 09:42:42 pm »

...and long story short, it was awesome. For anyone who hasn't read it, it was basically a compilation of his rants, strange notions, and generally odd-yet-funny things. For anyone who doesn't know who George Carlin is, go look him up. I couldn't do him justice.

Anyway, anyone know of any other books like this? (comedic books, in other words)

EDIT: Book was Brain Droppings, if anyone is interested.

Ehh, I never really liked him.  I don't see what all the fuss was about.

Carlin will always be well-liked on my part for his bit about euphemisms (especially the PTSD part at the beginning):

Always loved Carlin. Especially liked the bit he did in one of his specials about the language airlines used.

George Carlin is one of very few types of Americans that doesn't piss me off immensely :b

Watched most of what he has done and would love to read his books sometime I happen to have the cash to buy them somewhat reliably near me here in The Merchants Harbour or stumble over some fishy, magical and suspiciously magnetic link.

I regret not buying the book I saw once with a collection of letters by Hunter S Thompson. things like a letter he sent to request a refund of a mail ordered coat...

I have a very similar sentiment, and I'm an American.

He seems to be a little crazy, looking videos of him, I'm agreeing with a little of what he says, but sometimes it's just silly, or rather dumb. Or rather ignorant of the actual facts, or rather... weird. It can still be rather fun rambling though.

How can you not love George Carlin?

I wonder if the text loses some of the flavor of his delivery and inflections though.

Very much miss George Carlin.  Sat front row at one of his shows a long time ago.  Friend I was with earned himself a personal insult from the guy :P
