Curious Underground Structures [SPOILER]
« on: January 09, 2012, 12:22:38 pm »

So, while having some fun with DF2010 while waiting for the next release, I stumbled over a curious underground structure. It's my first one, I usually don't go that deep. I wanted to take a good look at it via dfhack's reveal before actually opening the place, and was quite baffled when it was more than 80 z-layers large. :o Is that normal? And does anyone know whether the Fun scales with the size? I don't want this quite promising fort to die already...

...Was it made of something blue and metallic?

If yes, then mine to the centre of it.
If no, mine to the centre of it anyway.

Ah, sorry, I wasn't referring to the candy cane, but to the other way to the HFS.

Does it have a nice blue shiny sword in the centre of it?

If yes, then take it.
If no, make one, put it in the centre and then take it.

As you may notice, if you look carefully, there will be a candy sword over a glowing floor. These two are related.

Make sure to kill the guy who made said blue shiny sword and everyone who knew he made it before doing that. The dwarven way.

Look guys, I'm spoiled. I'm just wondering whether this is usual, since this thing is almost as high as the entire world and takes up a metric carpton of space that could have been useful.

Always dig deeper. Take everything. Even the zombies, take those too.

Case in point. My favorite thing to do is to collect the undead and release them upon unsuspecting caravans. :3

At the risk of being helpful, I can tell you that I've never seen one take up that much space. They're usually much smaller in my experience.

Thanks for being helpful! :) I guess I was right about this one being unusually large.

Hm. Dwarven Demonic Fortress. Demonic Dwarven Fortress. I approve of this idea.

80 z-levels does seem excessive... Normally they just reach from within ~5 z-levels of the bottom to the lowest cavern layer, but that usually only means 10 or so levels.

you can check the building menu and see if you see the sword there. check if it's at the bottom of the structure. If it is. prepare for expedition down 80 z-levels :P
have fun.

Waht? Always demons. Always dig deeper. Take the demons, the demons are now yours as well.
