Never ever bring the expensive stuff. Go a little at a time. I can buy 2k worth of goods with a 50☼ profit margin or even less, usually with undecorated *mechanisms* or less. Just don't let them get their greedy eyes set on anything you do not intend to offer immediately, and don't let more than 5k worth of goods rest in your depot at a time. It makes them think you're poor, but if they get 25☼ profit 10 times in a row (and you're trading 100% of what you've got in the depot each time) without excuse to reject an offer they will leave F#$%!*@ ECSTATIC. Only issue is with really expensive steel gear. Then you might want to offer ~200☼ profit.

Depends on how you view it. More cloth, steel/iron/bronze/tin, bags, wood, random material you dont have for moods and animals is always worth much more than having 100k of extra gold crafts lying around. I always get atleast half my cloth from traders and try to get as much wood from them as well, that means less dumb dwarves running around topside, getting caught in ambushes and sieges.

My dorfs must have gotten an unhappy though from me not generating any new memes.  So the dorf dorf dorf...


Stupid mason.  After falling 5 z levels into a pool, and breaking a leg, both hands, and a wrist, instead of trying to climb out of the pool by going to the ramp 1 tile away, she insisted on heading across the pool to a ramp much further away.  She kept passing out from pain.  Stupid dorf is lucky she didn't drown.
