Known bug. Traps are currently deadly to almost everything. There was one post where even dwarves were dying to their own mechanical weapons.

I just had my liaison break his leg wandering into the stonefall traps around my entrance.  I guess I need to remove those now.
EDIT:  And now the liaison is dead after deciding to run through the traps again before my mechanic could dismantle them.  Well, now I can trade all his silk clothing.

I just build 2 entrances and lock them with floodgates.
When I need traders, I open a safe way. When I await for gobbos, I close the safe and open the deadly. When I want merchants' items, I still open the deadly way =). No more merchant-killing bridges, because traps now work as they should > :).

I was just about to report this myself.

First time, I thought that my dwarf liaison has just hung around the site too long and went crazy, but just now, the human liaison walked into and got trapped in a cage.  Amusing, but probably not the intended effect.
