Everyone should be expecting more glitches along the lines of "Urist McDwarf has been happy recently. He has eaten oeintsgtonsldkjgnsdfgndgln damn cat, get off the keyboard lately."

Happy early birthday, Toady! Though I think that your birthday is important enough for an 11-day celebration.

Engraved on the wall is an image of a toad and a cat. The toad is embracing the cat.

Toady, how much of DF is inspired by Labyrinth? Is Armok actually David Bowie? Because that would simultaneously be disturbing and awesome.

A cat?  A CAT?

Oh wait.  The dwarves haven't figured out how to neuter animals without butchering them in the process.  Scamps will be fine.

And really, it's a kitten named Scamps?  Everybody say it with me, "D'awww."

Do not feel a obligation to work extra days to make up for your birthday.

The only thing Toady needs in his place now is a fishtank or fountain with carps. Real-life sinister biome.

I wonder how it feels to have a small legion of people lavishing praise on you and sucking up to you all the time. I expect that it eventually makes you wonder if any of the compliments are heartfelt, or have any real meaning.

Drawn blood eh..

The trick that I've found out, after raising 9 (!) kittens I found in my backyard last spring, is that, most of the time, you can prevent being scratched..
Takes some training..
Overcome your reflex of pulling back your hand, you actually make the scratch yourself by that.
Keep your hand still, and your kitten might bite-play /scratch a bit, but you won't get such nasty scratches.
Have fun!

I went out to the kitchen to make dinner, and when I came back, the source had a big "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" in it.  Scamps had already fled the scene.  No caps on, so maybe a dual shift + e onslaught?

Maybe he was expressing his displeasure at something you had no control over.
