You are Imperial: The Fleet Arrives
« on: January 08, 2012, 01:20:34 am »

You are an Imperial Major who is located on the world of Ceteria-Prime, a recently established hive-world that is currently under siege by a small Tyranid fleet. You, and your men are stationed in a small city-fortress that holds a vital roadway leading directly to the hive cities of this world, and you have been tasked with protecting it from the coming Tyranid horde though all you have under your command is a several firesquads, and a single Leman Russ Battle Tank. Your current position is barely fortified with a quickly placed Aegis Defence Line Placed across the roadway, and the remains of several buildings that provide some protection.

But more importantly the chaotic battle seems to have made you forget some important stuff.

1.) Who are you?
2.) What Gender are you?
3.) What was it you were known for among your troops?

Liberating all sorts of nonstandard equipment for the unit

I'm thinking that we put everything in the first line of buildings, hold the line there, and use the tank for a mobile reserve.

As a note I will allow naming of vehicles, and officer units, but average guardsmen, and such will remain unnamed. So later on I may allow some players to claim specific units like tanks, and officers.

Right, I know a good  amount of fluff so I should be able to help. The IG looooooovvvvvveeeeessssss their tanks so just one Leman Russ is a little on the low side, espically agianst 'Nids anything. 3 or 4 LRs and a few Baslisks are more like it.

Not necessarily. While the IG loves their tanks, there is never enough anything to go around, we've only got 15 guardsmen, so it's perfectly reasonable just to have the one tank, which I put forward the name Imperial Grace for.

Most of the IG forces were destroyed in the first waves of the Tyranid attack. All those that remain are spread very thin between numerous outposts, and town areas to cut off the Tyranids before they can reach the Hive Cities. You have one day until the first fleet arrives to assist in the battle for the planet. With them will come several regiments of guardsmen, a couple of tank battalions, a coupe dozen Basilisks, and two squads of Marines.

You are Imperial: ~ Turn 1 ~
« Reply #11 on: January 08, 2012, 04:11:55 am »

Turn 1: Bellum Incentor Argo ...

It takes a bit, but it all comes back to you, your name, age, and skills pop right back in there, but now is not the time to be pondering how that happened. As you snap out of whatever amnesia took you over the vox crackles to life, and you hear someones voice coming through it, "This is the remains of the Hell Riders! Our position has been over-run, and we are pulling back. The Tyranids were to many, and we took to many casualties, and have numerous wounded. We will be going through the remains of Vulchers Pass in two hours. Be ready for incoming hostiles." With that the vox dies, and the area around you become eerily quiet to your ears.

You walk over to the remains of a window, and look out to find your men scurrying about down below as they push Aegis Defence Lines into position, and secure Heavy Bolter Emplacements in the more able of the structures. You shake your head in doubt about the coming days, and know that many of these men will never see their families again, for you face the Tyranid horde who number, so great that the very land can become nothing more then a writhing mass of flesh when they come in full force. The sound of clanking fills your ears as your tank, the Imperial Grace, pulls into place between two buildings.

You open the small file that was sent to you by the higher ups, and re-read it one more time (Two Missions Gained). The first missioe is of little interest as it tells you what you already know, you are to hold your position to the last man, and fight for every blade of grass they try to take from you. The second mission however is a lot more interesting, it seems that the village your men are holding contains a research lab with several flesh samples from a Norn Queen, and that a squad of Space Marines would be arriving the next day to hold the position, and prep for extraction of the samples. Apparently this takes higher importance than town.

When you finish one of the guardsmen comes running up to you, throws a hasty salute, and says 'Sir! Your orders sir!?"

(I'm assuming the 'A's on the map are the barricades and the open space is the outside.)

Move two Heavy Bolter emplacements to the 2nd to the topmost barricade and the other to the 2nd bottom most barricade. Place the third in the left-middlemost building for covering fire.

Move the Imperial Grace in front of one of the alleyways of the three buildings, prioritizing a fall-back position in case the barricades are broken.

Order 4 pairs of your men to the side of the empty barricades left. The rest garrison in buildings.

Your Heavy Bolters are already in place in quite a good position are you sure you want to move them?

You can also do more things then position troops. You could scout the surrounding area, search for supplies, contact the other outposts, do training drills (Requires Squads to be made), etc.

EDIT: Keep in mind your PDF, so you'll be looked down upon unless you can prove yourself. But don't worry the only officers near here are several galaxies away (This planet housed a Officer Academy, Needless to say it was the first to go down)
