Fixed it.

Well, that's done and I'll be trying to play the fort again later.

Sorry. I feel like such a control freak doing this, especially to someone else's thread, but could the title have a capital? Please?
I get irritated by these things.
Sorry.

9th Hematite
Our plans for the yak slaughter were postponed when the idiot I was supposed to kill them with built a wall, on the wrong side of a room, locking himself inside. I immediately ordered Pasta to dig the dense dwarf inside out.  I refused to continue to kill yaks because of this incident, as well as when we realized that we had no weapons, and the only available ore at the time was silver. So that’s a no go. As well as this, since there is no undead lurking, I sent forth Kroz Gulnaszefon to decapitate trees.

15th Hematite
That cat, it is covered in scars and has one broken leg.

My mouth waters just from looking at it.

23rd Hematite
It was love at first sight. The black and white spots, the adorable charm, I learned from a book somewhere that these are called “Panda Bears.”  I dreamt last night about their majesty. I knew, I knew I had to have one.
I knew I had to taste it. I’d imagine that the areas with different color patches are flavored differently. Oh the exciting new flavors! I cannot wait to try one!

-This text appears to be from later that day-
I was recently informed that we have no butchery for animals we slaughter, I looked Kroz right in the eye as he said this to me. I put a hand on his shoulder, and told him: “We need to fix this, now.” And so The digging began for the butchery and cookery. Finally I’ll be able to eat that cat. Oh finally… Oh, the pandas too.

1st Malachite
The kitchen and brewery are finished being dug out! Now for the butchery, then delicious delicious panda…
Oh, and The kingdom sent some more migrants to die and all that. A bowyer, a craftsdwarf, and an Armorer.  None of which I even bothered to try to learn their last names once they told me once. I couldn’t even pronounce it once I heard it…

One of them however, knows how to use an axe and a sword though, competent even with the axes, she may be very well a murderer of things that are already dead. Not like that does much, but it does something. In fact, this bowyer has almost no skill in their actual job whatsoever.
The Armorer is a proficient siege operator, again, being better at another job than his own.  His wife though, is essentially useless. I hope that in years to come she will pop out canon fodder after canon fodder for when the goblins find us.

I’ve also decided to make a tower for our to be siege operator, because I can do that.

9th Malachite
I have declared that we dig. “How deep?” They asked me. “There’s a limit?” I replied.

We will find that metal. The forges are already almost prepared.

12th Malachite
And then I found a cavern.

13th Malachite
Ahah, Ahahah, Hah, Giant Olms. The best part? It’s face was melted off. Just be smart, smooth over the stairs leading there, then dig around the cavern. Skeletons for some reason are harder to kill than regular stuff, or so I’ve been told.

18th Malachite
I dug deeper, the others did not follow. They decided to take out the stairway. While I was still down there, But I’m not scared. I’m digging my way up. But first, I must dig my way down.  Oh, and I found some tetrahedrite too.

-written slightly later-
Another cavern! This one is entirely flooded with water, making it ideal for whatever the hell that’s for. Oh, there’s some magma too, but I’m hungry so I’ll wall that off later in a heroic fight against whatever wants to kill me down there.
Correction, the clawless pond grabber that lives down there. The zombified thing lost all of the claws on its right side. So essentially it’s only half a threat now.

What occurred on 20th Malachite
“What!? one of the pandas has left!?”
“Yes sir, we don’t know why.” Replied Kroz
“Wait, this must mean only one thing.”
“What sir?”
“The marmots have returned! To arms!”
I brought along Winterdirge as a meatshield, before he choked on his own spit.

Holy Armok he is fast! He rushed right into the marmot, punched it twice in the guts and it died! I didn’t even get there. Both with his left hand, I have yet to know whether that is his dominant hand or not, but either way he’ll do great with a hammer once we make one.

Those are just fist extensions right? At least that’s my knowledge of them.

25th Malachite
Wolves, ok, that’s a problem, we don’t like wolves. We don’t have a military. One reasonable solution, make a military! Also get everyone inside.

11th Galena
I’ve learned that although copper sucks, it still works as weaponry. Weaponry = dead stuff. Dead stuff = exotic foods. Exotic foods = me happy.

12th Galena
The panda left! What a tragedy!
But… It’s almost time for wolf steaks for everyone. I wonder what wolves taste like…

22nd Galena
The wolves left. Next time, whatever edible enters this land. They shall not leav- fox! Kill it! kill it and eat it!

25th Galena
The blood of the fox was everywhere. Oh what fun! Nothing can make this day even better!

-shortly after, this was added-

Panda! Kill it! Kill it dead!

30th Galena
Success! My stomach hurts from being clawed. I’ma take a nap now.

Took me a while to get done, I had some stuff going on. But that's done and this was posted.

I've always had a problem with that; how do you get your butcher to butch dead things? He's always a bit temperamental with me.

Bah, I don't have that problem. I make him a dedicated butcher (remove all hauling labors except ones concerning hauling the dead things to the workshop and cleaning duties).

I usually make a blank stockpile near the butcher shop, in a new room, and only allow corpses and body parts of the animals I want in there. they usually take them, and door it off in case of a miasplosion. (What I call a Miasma explosion. and yes, winterdike actually did kill random stuff with his bare fists, I'm smelting tetrahedrite for copper so I can make some weapons, including his hammer. I already made a warhammer, but someone else took it.)

I was actually about to yesterday, but it kinda was 11:00 and I had virtually no sleep the night before. So, now it's time for an update.

3rd Limestone

After cleaning myself I decided to go dig out a hospital. Purely for the benefit of the dwarven public of course. Even though there are only ten of us.  On other news we’re finally working on that dining room, making tables for it. I plan on making it a very large circle of tables, with lots of littler table circles slowly getting smaller as they’re inside of it… but that’s for later plans. Today, we feast. The cat is safe for now.

10th Limestone

The hospital hole is still not yet finished, I should just have done it myself.  On a brighter note, my gaping stomach hole has been reduced to only a dent, and the butchery is finally up and running. For some reason they butchered the fox and not the panda… I have to look into this and correct it.

19th Limestone
It’s… horrid. This Dwarf… She just took the fox intestines and ate them raw. RAW. I couldn’t help but watch as the nut-job ate it. Raw. And she’s the milita commander. I mean really, we may live in a dirt hole but at least have some class…

22nd Limestone
Hahah! The panda has been butchered! That thing was fat, 13 large hunks of meat, I hope my theory of spot flavors is correct.

23rd Limestone
More dwarves on death sentence I presume. We got some “Migrants” and they filed in nice and neatly. One carpenter was carrying an Iron battleaxe, I immediately presumed he was proficient with it. Well, this is what happened next

“Ah, greetings! I see you have an axe.”
“Yup”
“What’s your name sir?”
“Hugo Cattennazom ‘channeldreamed’ as the humans call it.”
“What news do we have from the king?”
“Well, he sent us all to join the Trampled banner.”
“The what?”
“The trampled banner, you know, the name of the government here.”
“They named it the trampled banner?”
“You didn’t know?”
“Couldn’t they have chosen a better name?”
“What’s wrong with it?”
“Well, a stepped on flag doesn’t exactly raise the spirits.”
“Oh yeah…”
“Anyway, how good are you with the axe?”
“What?”
“You know, the axe you’re holding.”
“Oh yeah, that.”
“What do you mean by “Oh yeah, that”?”
“Never touched one in my life.”
“But… You’re holding one right now…”
“Never touched one.”
“That’s the spunk, welcome to the militia!”
“Wait, what?”

Apparently The miner that arrived was on death sentence, but was allowed to come her instead. I don’t understand, nobody has been murdered yet.

1st Sandstone
I succumbed to my desire, I ate the raw Panda liver.

It was the most delicious thing I ever tasted.

5th Sandstone
I Think We shouldn’t dig any deeper.  I just found personally the largest freaking magma sea I ever heard of.  I’m scared to look further into this cavern, I think we should just build a magma forge later, and avoid contact with and denizens of this cave. Walls walls and more walls.  Remember, no touchy the lava.

14th Sandstone
The Yaks have returned! Again, they are undead. Vermin.  Apparently, this place has been deemed by the king a death sentence, because of these.  Apparently, an elven village had been settled too close to this mountain and was unprepared for the massacre that ensued. And glorious it was…

27th sandstone
The dwarf I told to be cook, I found them carrying a dead rat to a pile we made underground. I fear the worst.

Oh, we also found troggies. I don’t think they like us.
