I've read only the first one, and recommend it as a good book.
I haven't read the others, so I can't say anything about them.

I'd read the first one if your looking for a quick action book, the second if you liked the first, and the third one only if you can't stop yourself  :P.

Its a decent trilogy, I'd say. Not exactly one of my favorites though.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I liked the first book in the series, which I read. I didn't read any of the others though. I don't think it's particularly excellent, but I enjoyed it.

Read all three a year ago when my sister (who is 30) lent me her set because, I guess, she was in love with them and knows I like books. They're really good for YA fiction. It's got, you know, character development and themes and archetypes and all that good shit that real literature has. It's not groundbreaking or amazing, just quite good. That's a pretty high praise considering one of my first thoughts when I started reading was that it was like Battle Royale without the awesome.

And I read the 3 of them in the period of about a week, so it's not like you're looking at a huge time investment if you're interested in them.

WTF? I read the books and thought "This is the kind of book that you can't make movies out of, it's too hard". Now they're already making one and the trailer's great!
Now I'm all over the Internet looking for news of a new attempt at Eragon.

When I first heard of the movie I was like, "are they really going to make a movie almost entirely about children suffering and dying?"

Hmm, I hadn't seen that trailer yet. District 12 looks pretty...clean. The CG in that trailer gives everything a real homogenous look. The District should be grittier, and the Capital should be shinier. Also, Peter isn't nearly effeminate enough.

Could be good though. I just wonder how they're going to deal with, you know, children being killed and stuff and keep the rating low enough that it still appeals to the YA bracket. They can't push it all offscreen, certain death scenes include some pretty integral character moments, but it's hard to impale a little girl in a way that isn't going to raise the rating.

Just don't show the blood and anything gets a G rating.

Actually it's been given a rating somewhere in the adult range if memory serves.

Actually, a quick googling reveals a few articles that say it'll be PG-13. Which makes sense I guess. It'll still be interesting to see how they deal with a few scenes though.

Hhm, must have been a rumor then I heard it third hand from someone who heard it from someone who read it somewhere, the fact that it was only a rumor must have been lost in transfer
