Crime and dehydration.
« on: January 06, 2012, 11:35:08 pm »

OK so. I decided to put my criminals in cages. How can I make sure my caged little reprobates don't die of thirst? Isn't someone suppossed to bring them water? I even set like 5 dwarves to do nothing, including hauling. I left the default heathcare (feeding and such) on in case it was tied to that. But they keep dying. How can I fix this?

How can I fix this?

Don't put your prisoners in cages, put them on chains.

No, just feeding prisoners is a very low priority task, so Dwarves will favour doing pretty much everything else.

I never saw a dwarf give food/water to a caged prisonner. Every one of them died.
On the other hand, I never saw a chained prisonner die of thirst/hunger, if I had a few idlers on hand.

So I think the cages may be a little buggy, yes. Or I had a stroke of bad luck with them...

Yea, i've had similar results. I would suggest sticking to chains for prisoners.

Chains seem so.... limp, though. I'll have to get creative. Maybe I can put his water on the other side of a pressure plate that smacks him with some training spears.

I give my prisoners mini-Hiltons, with booze and food and good beds. The way I figure it, anybody who defies the stuck-up nobles' demands is an okay guy in my book.

Make some iron chains, have them decorated, and hope you get menacing spikes.

@Loud Whispers
Regarding Lead, I just send mouth operated hard lead instruments to the elves. Flasks make a good present for their druid.

@Calista
Y'know..... that's a really good point.  :o Never thought of it that way.
