I kept putting it off, and putting it off, but I've finally gotten around to playing this some more.

Right now you have three urges.
1. To donate some money to charity, you're a good person, who likes to do good things.
2. You have the urge to learn to cook a little better.
3. You really want to buy something worth at least 100 sim bucks.

Perhaps you should find out what your SUBCONSCIOUS thinks you should do HINT HINT.
