Sour about that unintentional sequence breaking.

*Grumble Grumble*

Any good tips for compensating for Arche's lack of range when attacking things? I got a little stuck in that place fillled with merpeople.

Oh, and poison in this game is the most evil thing ever.

Jump into downstabs, Arche Kick to close the distance or just block into thrust into combo. Learning to block is rather crucial.

The poison is evil, yes, but it also made for the most epic moment I had in this game to date. I arrived in the town I needed to reach for a quest just two venom ticks before death. Sana down, no herbs, no antidote. It was a magnificent race against the clock, thankfully I won it :P

I can't remember which combo it is for the kick, and that revealing-armour lady isn't telling me combo's anymore.

I'm fine for blocking, I just tend to get swarmed and stunlocked until i'm dead.

I'm not sure it would've been as bad if I hadn't been poisoned by the first snake I saw, and tried blocking that fancy blue merperson that, turns out, can smash me with ice.

Oh, and is anything you get from that 20cp machine thingie good for anything?

Check the abilities in the F1 menu to see your combo moves.

Don't have the full game, but re: Demo and getting arche to function well, I just switched control to the secondary character and played artillery. AI was pretty solid for keeping arche flapping about and murdering things, while not dying.

The AI is more than competent, it's some of the best teammate AI I've seen to date. They follow the simple orders you can give, they dodge attacks and counterattack with amazing competence, they avoid traps, they heal when you need it (which is usually about less than one half), and most impressively, they automatically adapt their strategies to the enemies you're fighting. They don't waste magic on trivial enemies, they use the weakest and cheapest magic when you run into enemies that still take more than one hit to kill, they buff you and ratchet up the next best magic when facing challenging enemies, and they go all out with buffs and debuffs and the best magic they have when you face a boss; all this without you needing to say a thing. I absolutely love this AI, and this actually facilitates the story since it reinforces the idea that your teammates are, you know, ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD at what they do!

It keeps the pace appreciable as well, since it means you don't need to be constantly fiddling with menu options.

SO I just beat the game! It was pretty awesome.

Finally, I have a general question. Does anyone know where to get Calming Cocoa? I need it for the Helping Dad thing, but I have not stumbled on a single one over the entire game.

The grand prize is pretty nice. A staff that grants a bunch of spirit and mana. You can use it until well in the midgame.

I got lucky and found Merrin's Staff on my second try with the capsule machine. It's pretty awesome.

I found the Calming Cocoa, so any hypothetically helpful persons can disregard my previous question.

Jump and attack.

Bats (and pretty much any flying enemy) are a pain, but just wait until you're running around slaying kobolds and jaguars like a baws. I'm currently at the point where I'm doing roughly 40-50 damage every attack and can take on multiple opponents at once. It feels pretty damn awesome.
