This game could literally span the course of 200-300 years AFTER worldgen ends, just because there are so many people and a fort is likely to last several years to a decade.

Awesome list. and this is before we even started, there will probably be alot of people signing up when the world becomes interesting. I also vote that the founder of the fort chooses if his fort is read only.

Also, with poor luck, I'll be waiting for my turn for ~9 months after the next release. This might turn out to be a long haul. :P

Eh, succession forts take a long damn time as well. At least we've got some time limits we can count on.

I wouldn't mind building a deathtrap fort for this. I'm also rather interested in adventuring through the world.  :D

Maybe we could have a save file posted regularly (not to be passed on, just for adventuring).

Added to the list. We now have 31 (potential) fortresses to plunder!

The engravings in the last few fortresses will probably be delightingly diverse, hopefully resulting in no more "Smarblegarble the human tamed the giant eagles" -spam. Yay!

In preperation for this thing, i've been trying to run my current fort into a glorious end to get used to it, in hopes of being able to pull off a good one.
So far, i've got 2 soldiers who are using iron armor, wooden shields, and steel swords, along with about 30 using wood shields and misc axes. We've driven away simply HUGE sieges with minimal losses for about 3 years in a row now with no traps or nothing. I've been at this for about 4 days now.
If this timeline holds out once im playing this game we're planning, it's gonna make it REALLY tough for me to meet the 10 day deadline.

any advice in how to go out in a blaze of glory without breaching the hidden fun stuff?

does this need it's own thread?

yeah, some ideas for a quick but worthy end should be posted here. Then again, if a fort survives long enough (>10 years) it's worthy to stay and you could make it persistent with the DFort exploit.
