Breakjailer the Abysmal Radiances of Throwing
« on: January 05, 2012, 07:04:24 pm »

So, I have been playing a pretty peaceful fort the past few days. Pretty uneventful. Until sudden;y I get alerted a baby in the fortress bled to death. Checking my announcements, it turns out that apparently my dorfs have been deeply engaged in a mortal struggle beyond all mortal comprehension.

Against a horse who apparently got lost in the lower depths of my fortress.

By the time I had realized what was going on, the dorfs had already nicknamed the beast. So I sent my wrestlers to go take care of the monster.

Monster is right.

30 seconds later all three wrestlers were massacred and the horse came out of the battle with maybe a few dents and scrapes. And a longer nickname, which I have put in the topic of this thread. She proceeded to charge terrifyingly up the stairs toward the upper levels of my fortress and make quick work of one of my civilian dorfs, an animal dissector, and I am now paused to write this.

Even her description sounds downright terrifying. What makes this even worse is she is now pretty well coated in the blood of the dorfs she has killed.

I'll keep you all updated on this menace as it progresses.

Is there an easy way of doing that without taking a load of screenshots?

If you turn your output mode to TEXT in the init, you can drag your mouse over the screen and copy-paste the text, as it's now done in literally text.  Will disable any graphic packs, but you can turn them back on later.

Let me guess, berzerk merchant horse?

No. Wild horse that wandered in. I have the combat log so far up, I had my dorfs retreat to a burrow away from the demon-equine.

What if this is just a viral way to market the movie War Horse?

If that were me, I'd be taming the shit out of that horse and riding it!

I remember my first encounter with a horse. I caught a horse in a cage trap, and decided to do some training on it (uh-oh, they say). So I made a little 4x5 room, stationed three dwarves armed with wooden training weapons, and pitted the horse...
The Horse suffered some light bruising, the dwarves suffered three stomped skulls.

And that's a very awesome combat log. I love the fight between the horse and the baby.

Horses cannot be trained.

Unless you mod [CAN_LEARN] which can be done without genning a new world.  You can still never tame it, as it's tasted human flesh (literally), and may not fight against goblins, definitely won't fight elves.  It'll eat nobles though.

Maybe I'll sell Breakjailer.
