I really don't think they either intended or anticipated the hype.  The devs likely posted a youtube video either to show friends or to hopefully get a few comments and find out what strangers think of the concept.

Eh, that wasn't how the tone of the video struck me. Or the fact that the website was up at the exact same time. I think they clearly want to market their game, and that's not anything I object too. I personally would prefer more to look at though. It seems like people are trying to give it the benefit of both worlds; indie and direct to sale. I only see one of the those going on here, despite the indie vibe it has.

Umm I can't help but think that if their graphics and physics engine were combined with Dwarf Fortress's Detail and epicness only awsome would come of it... but sadly I doubt that'll ever happen  :'(

Tl;Dr: No alpha yet (current game state: borked), Kickstarer yes (but not yet), alpha/demo at about the same time as kickstarter. At least one month away. Keep yer money under yer pillow for now, and maybe send them a picture of it if you feel silly enough.

Coming close to the complexity of Dwarf Fortress would take a very, very long time in Unity.

Looks pretty good. I like that the A.I. tries to build things as they make sense instead of heading off towards the nearest object and building that. They built the stairs only as they needed to, and everything looked good up until the end, when one guy built the other one into the parapets. Apparently cubes present a problem to the whatchamacallits. (Blocktrons or something?)

They also automatically dug out stairs for the mine. Nice touch.

I'm glad that they're already planning on ways to reduce CPU cost. If the finished product is as complex as they claim it will be, the processor will need all the help it can get!

It looks closer to Ramparts than anything else.

The most badass re-imagining of Ramparts to ever be conceivably possible.  But that's how I'm imagining it, and I'm okay.  It doesn't need to be sandboxy to make me happy, it can be (and I hope it is!) pretty game-y.

is there any info on what you're going to face as enemies? castle building gets pretty dull if enemy line up on choke points waiting to be killed by traps

You noticed that the castles explode, right?  I'm guessing there's a reason for that.  Some enemies making holes for other enemies, say.
