I'm pretty sure in one of these KS-related threads someone has pointed out how the KS update system is 'pretty terrible', nenjin. Updating a blog of any kind (or just email list emails) is likely easier to format how they want it quickly, and emails lists would be the same as a KS update anyway: Both send you an email.

Yeah, it's been talked about in the Net Gain thread and elsewhere. I know it's bad. And yet I get full page, text and link and image-rich updates all the time from other projects through the Kickstarter email. They can manage a complicated display in it. Is it _that_ hard to literally post:

"New updates!

Hey backers, a whole bunch of new stuff going on with the game. You can read all the updates at: Link."

That, twice a month. For people that made your dream come true. If you truly feel indebted to the people that helped you, writing that notice should not be an issue. Not everyone is a blog/forum/facebook junkie, nor does everyone have the time to be one for every game.

Anyways, that rant was off the cuff. Rebut if you feel like it, but the thread should stay focused on CS. *wipes dust off page 12*

Last I played it, it was playable. But theres not much to do yet unless you like building.

And the building isn't exactly smooth. I had a bunch of problems with pathing and blocked tasks.

Yeah, I'd hold off. Development seems to be going very, very slowly. I've checked it every now and then (I had kickstarted it), but there's barely anything new, and no real game to play just yet. I haven't checked lately, but I wouldn't wonder it's very close to what it's been for a while.

There was a ~100 mb patch today so I can't honestly say what the state of the game is now. I'd find out but I've felt so burned by previous offerings I don't really want to fool with it. This is one game I definitely could have and should have waited on release for.

I just remembered that I went through their dev logs and patch notes a while back and none of it was related to gameplay. I think it was KS rewards, allowing different resolutions, updating the auto-updater... stuff like that, but nothing that would make it play any different :(

It does play very different now, I suggest everyone who got the game gives it another try just to keep up.

The latest patch adds a survival mode where you have to defend your big blue crystal against waves of corruptrons, using the crystals you get from the mines to spawn archers and knights. It also adds doors, ladders, yellow crystals and crystal torches. Oh, and catapults.

The AI and UI also have been (mostly) fixed, so the game is rather playable now. Still very basic, but playable.

Major annoyance though: if you order a block to be removed, any block that is subsequently placed in its place will be removed as well, unless you delete the work group.

I always found workgroups to be a hindrance. The interface did not make it easy to undo or change anything. Accidentally placing an intended block became a problem before it was even built.
