Yeah, I'm trying to make a "lite" version of it. One experimental thing I did though was I made scouts have concealment as their first ability instead of like fourth. All scout are ninja. Currently ninja with one less upgrade path then anyone else, but ninja nonetheless.

What's a good way to start base wise on long war?  I feel like the research takes too long and the abduction missions don't have the option of grabbing a few engineers or scientists early on.  I was feeling pretty good about my last attempt until the bomb disposal mission, when the sectiods all bumped up to 4 health, 5 with the boost, and got completely slaughtered

Rushing a lab early on is pretty solid. Speeds up your research considerably, which is pretty important in my opinion. I also favor getting an OTS as soon as you can.

Wow...I'm making a mod specifically to make this easier because I am a baby and looking at this tells me one thing. You suck ass man.

Hmm, sounds like the tactical part is more of a problem, especially since 90% of your playtime in LW is spent in the tactical mode.
Try taking out an hour or two & checking out Beaglerush's videos. IIRC he started a little LW EW campaign, then dropped it shortly afterwards in favor of live/impossible, (too much editing). It should be helpful.

-checked for it, skip to 1:50.

Pay attention to LOS.

The bomb missions are... pretty easy, actually. Only Sectoids and Thin Mints, usually... A clear objective... The only difficulty should be finding the bomb, which really isn't hard on the smaller maps.

Its not "bomb missions" its the first bomb mission on higher difficulties.

See, most council missions drop in the thin mints in two waves, bomb missions do it in one, AND force you to move quickly which is the opposite of how you normally want to play the game.

I tend to play quickly, bomb disposals are easy if you focus on taking 80-100% shots, have scouts to soak overwatch fire and assaults for assured mint removal.

You know what the worst bomb mission is? That goddamn bridge one. The best part is that whenever I get a first-month bomb mission, it's always been that one.

Not trouble, Pain in the Ass yes, but not trouble.

The only things I tend to have trouble with is when harvester ships land early game in Long War and I attempt to take them over with nothing but rookies/rank 1-3 units and basic guns.
