Yeah, pretty sure I messed up while nerfing alium HP gains. Musta misplaced a zero or somesuch and it counted it as hexadecimal code or something. Was noted in a comment somewhere that could happen.

Gonna have to be very careful when giving that another pass.


Also, apparently LW devs had a similar idea to me, because the new version ships with a "training" version of the game that is supposedly easier. Working off of this because hey, why not, though looking through the files doesn't seem to be any decrease in HP walls or such.

Finsihed a terror mission with an all Excellent rating, using squaddies plus Rince Wind. It was a good combination of luck, no chrisalids, and questionable tactical choices from aliens.

The wizzard punched a berserker. Feels good.

Good luck tracking it down.  Oakley has been through many, many things on Beaglerush's campaigns.  She doomed the first I/I caimpaign and then was a total hero in another one.

I remember one mission with a supply barge where everyone except her was killed and she barely made it out.  Don't remember any grappling though.  Whatever he's reference probably involves the grappling armor.

That the run with the supply barge was fun, she got rifle suppression and low profile as an assault and would suppress aliens with a scatter laser while hiding behind a SHIV.

I still do not have a single support. Well, I did have one squaddie but he died right away. Now I am throwing my little funds on more new guys and get 3 snipers + 2 heavy, ARGH.JPG.

Plus, that  intense feeling of despair of taking squaddie snipers in battle and forgetting that they do not have squadsight.

PSA: I am still taking applications on this thread for soldier naming, I have a few high ranked ones  still not yet named after Bay12ers.

I've recently started replaying this, but on Linux this time. While Enemy Unknown runs just fine, I'm having some trouble getting Enemy Within to start up - it spits out "/media/user/XCom-Enemy-Unknown/xew/binaries/linux/xcom_ew.sh: line 30: /media/user/XCom-Enemy-Unknown/xew/binaries/linux/../../binaries/linux/game.x86_64: Permission denied"

I've checked the permission of the file, and it looks alright. I've mucked around in the xcom_ew.sh file to set the home path manually, but that either gives me the same problem, or just starts up Enemy Unknown instead. Anyone have any insights?

Are you using steam? Is it installed into your home folder (aka you have the usual .steam/steamapp/... folders)?

If you are not using steam, did you run an install as root?

I'm not using steam, and the install was done as a user. I've even made sure to chown everything.

Your brother's fault for overwriting your save file, he could have chosen a new save slot.

So finally got back to this.

That must be the Long War mod, right? Would so try that if I could get EW to work.
