Cemetary is the Zhang one, unless the new version added a slingshot mission I don't know about.

Like I said, still manageable, just have to watch for the thin men spawning behind you in buttrape position, only one Chryssallid, and it doesn't get to scamper when it drops, which nerfs the shit out of it.

Though I might have just got lucky when it dropped on top of my infantryman.

Problem is that no matter what your position thin men will rape you from behind.  I've had four drop at the very, very edge of the map right behind my heavy cover, all in overwatch.  Nothing I could do would let me out of that situation.  I move, I get gunned down.  I ignore them, I get gunned down.  I shoot at them, two of them survive, one killing Zhang and the other my best soldier.

Then you keep your peeps at the edge of the map.

Can't flank you if there IS no "behind you"

It also helps to have buttloads of Infantry like I do, but then when DOESN'T that help?

I brought three rookies

Bullshit.

Suggestion: Explode everything. Scorch the earth behind you and leave no cover for drop-ins.

Note: I haven't done this mission, but I'm just assuming all cover in a graveyard map is destructible.

I like to use at least 2 scouts and and a sniper on that map. Dodge the overwatch and flank, or at the very least get eyes on and hit them from afar while the scout hunkers.

By edge of map I mean they were at the border.  If I was any further behind I would be without cover.

yeah, maybe two drop on the back center.  I start by moving to the back left corner, prevents flanking and those couple of drops don't get behind me.

Oh, goody! I just now, a very good length of time into a campaign, realized I can, in fact, pick what class a soldier is in, and Commander's Choice doesn't just give you the subclass option.
And, the very. Next. Mission. After. Friends in Low Places, my medic dies. I am so happy at myself!

Good lord, I have siblings. (Or, at least, two soldiers from the same country, with the same surname.)
If either of them dies I'm going to snap.

I once had triplets, and they all became supports.

That mission is rough.

I don't know how the pro ironman types do it, but I did it by concentrating my guys on one corner / side where they couldn't get too surrounded and where I could have everyone covering each other -- but far enough apart so only one could get acided at a time.  A dedicated medic in the back row meant that I would only have a guy offline from acid for one turn, and we could keep them at bay long enough to wear them down.

Attempts to break out or flank them with an assault generally ended in failure.  Blowing up their cover worked pretty good though, so do that when you can.

Still, I had to reload a bunch.

I don't know if it's the same in long war, but in vanilla it's very, very easy. Thin men drops are triggered by your soldiers moving forward.... so overwatch on turn one, kill the drop, reload all guns, overwatch creep forward till you get the next drop.... repeat. Just keep Zhang ducking down behind the statue, he's perfectly safe up there. If you have a squadsight sniper you can position him off to one side after you clear the first drop, and I think he can see basically the whole thing from there. There are, I think, two or three thin men pre-placed on the map you have to watch out for, but everything else just drops in waiting to be killed.

There's a surprise at the end, but if you save a rocket you should be ok.

warning: if you play long war the advice above may or may not get zhang and everyone you care about brutally murdered, I don't know.

I have that. An Infantry and a Medic both from Korea. So I gave both of them Green hair and nicknames of Jade and Emerald. Those girls are some of my better soldiers, and I always try to bring them along on the same missions.

I've had that a few times.
My favorite was the Williams' twins in vanilla, first time I saw that happen.

One of those girls was a support, the other an assault.
Nicknamed them WhiteKnight and BlackKnight respectively, with color schemes to match.

Also, fuck LW EXALT. Seriously, just ugh.
First time I ended up on a 4 man mission where they just vastly outnumber me, and its fucking ridiculous.

I'm generally neutral on EXALT missions, but occasionally the maps just conspire to fuck you over hardcore.

Hah, yeah. I got a pair of Dutch sisters and made them both Infantry since they hit clutch shots as PFCs. Also got a pair of So'Frican PFCs that aren't related, but they were right next to each other in the list. They're Infantry bros now too, and those pairs always get put on missions together.

But yeah, fuckin' Commander's Choice. No longer do I have to take hordes of shit on missions now that half of my roster is made up of Infantry and Assaults. Though of course I still managed to have a Medic who makes shots more reliably than my highest-Aim Infantry and Snipers.
