EDIT2: You aren't using an AMD FX CPU are you?

http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/STEAMGamesonAMDFXplatforms.aspx

I'm pretty sure that's the issue I had. Instead of updating your BIOS you can use Orochi CEG before running the game to disable the Steam CEG that causes the issue.

http://forums.2k.com/showthread.php?157481-Horrible-frame-rate-and-stuttering/page2
What I have as far as I know is a AMD Phenom II X4 955, or at least that is what Speccy tells me it is. I don't honestly know as much about my comp as I would prefer but when my last died I was perfectly fine with my dad just buying one, any one as it is a bit hard to go to college for programming and not having a computer.

OKAY, WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BULLSHIT?!

The EXALT mission in my previous post was a success, despite the loss of a heavy and a promising rookie. The covert operative? Not even injured despite a nasty ambush by two EXALT troops who somehow dropped and overwatched in perfect flanking positions.

But then.

BUT THEN!!!!

I get everyone back to base and the covert operative was - get this - KIA. The cause of death is only "Major Trauma (Unknown)". BULLSHIT. He wasn't even scratched! He got out! That was one of my best soldiers and my only assault! Why the hell is he dead?!

you are not alone.

http://xcom.wikia.com/wiki/Covert_Operative

"Due to bugs, Covert Operatives may die from "Unknown Trauma" even if their mission is successful. Apparently a Covert Operative who reaches the extraction point is simply invisible and out of the player's control, but still killable."

Bullshit.

Edit : Damn ninjas.

But the mission ended. My covert operative getting to the extraction point was the very last action of the mission. There was nothing left on the map to kill him, invisible or no.

Such bullshit.

Okay, I just had a mission in a unnamed Newfouldland Village. Lost my whole squad, I'm down to 3 non-rookies, 2 of them support and none higher level than corporal.

I think I'll restart a new game, and save more often. And next time I'll let Newfoundland die.

Was that a mission full of chryssalids?

Me? I typically start in Asia, because I really like rushing Foundry for early SHIVs. I hear starting in North America is good too, because of higher starting funding + cheaper aircraft, but I have yet to fully embrace that option.

Do you get more UFO intercepts if you have a satelite over a bigger country?

I lost three troopers on that mission, all genetically enhanced to regenerate HP, and was disappointed I didn't get any chryssalid hides (or anything else useful) out of it.

I feel that the HP regen gene mod is good for early game, but fails to scale well into late game, ie. once you get titan armour.
