My only regret is that I don't get many chances to safely run up to something and rocket punch it.
It only makes those moments when you actually can so much sweeter.

Also when a floater decides it's a brilliant idea to rocket jump next to your MEC.

Or when a council mission thin man drops in on overwatch right next to your MEC. Or when the exalt soldiers choose to spend both turns running into the data hacking "king of the hill" zone rather than shooting at your MEC, which is currently parked in the zone, in plain view, blocking all hacking attempts.

"Well I know who's getting punched next turn." And then they get punched. In the face.

I love punching someone so hard, they fly through two walls.

Into a car, detonating it and killing a nearby thinman.

Whoever on the XCOM design team who thought of giving the MECs that super fist should get an award. Seriously.

Honestly, the MEC punch was worth the entire cost of EW.

This one time an EXALT was in cover behind one of those long aisles of grocery stuff. Those things that give full cover. He was at the end of it.

Then my MEC came in. Punched him down the aisle, destroying the entire aisle in one glorious punch of smashed goods. Needless to say, the EXALT was ded.

Nothing is more satisfying than punching a Sectopod to death. NOTHING.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

The only problem with that is the horribleness of the sectopod explosion sound. Seriously, why is it so bad?

That's probably just an issue with the video, not the game itself. Something to do with when the uploader recorded it or edited it.

Might be. I seem to remember it being that way in the game as well, though.
