I'd like to direct you all to the 0.1 changelog of Beaglerush's upcoming X-Com Intensified balance mod, which significantly changes later gameplay in order to maintain the difficulty of the early game.

Armor gives your men HP *and* damage reduction, making that 8 damage 1-hit-kill plasma blast from a Muton turn into a 3 damage knick in your 18 stick health bar.
If you devoted time and money to research titan armour in impossible iron man with all the second wave options on, you'd either have won the game or be dead.

Hell, even with straight up rushing laser I ran into mutons before I even got the actual guns out. Fighting mutons with regular assault rifles is borderline impossible. Even floaters on impossible are pretty freaking hard with regular guns since they will only take about 2 damage per shot and have 6hp each. You won't even get carapace before then either and carapace won't save you from muton crits which happen 90% of the time in impossible.

Also, unlike the guns, you don't get free suits of armour from enemies. Free being incredibly important since the cost of the third satellite is so incredibly prohibitive with the increased cost option I barely have any money to use as it is. And then there's the fact that each nation gives randomized income and abduction mission rewards are also randomized.

I personally like how he's altered the armor the most. Actually, I'd probably play it just because he gave the Titan Armor an OOOOHHHH YEEEEAAAAAHHH feature.

I'd probably only use titan armor.

Should that mean something?

Is there another good mod you'd recommend that is actually usable at this time? I'm interested in playing now, not following someone else's personal changes which may at some point get released.

If you love X-COM, you should know Beaglerush. Ironman Impossible is probably the best X-COM video series out there.

I enjoy the game... I generally don't watch other people play it.

Any thoughts on the Warspace mod? http://xcom.nexusmods.com/mods/18//?
