Out of curiosity, if I played Impossible, how much should I be expect my ass to get kicked?
You will lose at least three countries every month and there is nothing you can do about it, if you win every mission perfectly.

Not quite correct, but don't expect to stabilize before loosing 40% of the map. I only managed to get through impossible by save scumming 2 or 3 times per mission

Shush you, I'm trying to sow panic and dissent amongst the uninitiated.

I'd suggest not revealing your plans if you want to sow panic.

Or are you trying to make me let my guard down as part of your plan?

Down to rookies again, all of my fledgling squaddies murdered by the sudden appearance of the ELITE MUTONS. HOW NICE.

Might as well throw the Sectopods at me already, because this couldn't get any worse.

It is now time for Operation Dying God, X-Com's first all SHIV assault. Goodbye you useless weak humans, my machines will take it from here.

And thus Skynet stumbled upon the alien technology needed to build a time machine.

At this point I would welcome Skynet with welcome arms. Even if it wanted to kill all humans, it would be a safe enough bet that it would also attack the alliums.

On a Council mission now, here's hoping that I can actually get some experience off of any weaklings they send at me. Though with these guys' track record Sectoids and Thin Men might still be a serious threat.

EMERGENCY EDIT CODE BLACK: MUTONS?! WHAT KIND OF FUCKING COUNCIL MISSION HAS MUTONS!?

Out of curiosity, if I played Impossible, how much should I be expect my ass to get kicked?

I'm used to playing on Classic, where I do really well, but often teeter on the edge of disaster. My latest run only lost one country before everything was covered with satellites.

Impossible requires a different playstyle.  There are a bunch of tricks that you're not going to learn on classic because you don't need them.  I could elaborate but honestly if you want a good intro to how to play on Impossible Ironman, go to Beaglerush's youtube account and which his in-progress playthrough.  I'd recommend trying it yourself first though, because having a desperate battle to kill the sectoids in the starting mission is an experience.

Just remember, if you know all the tricks and do everything right, you might beat Ironman Impossible.

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

Well, this new game is off to a great start. A council mission that I never saw before (bringing in an alien sympathizer for "questioning") went down in flames after a Thin Man poisoned the VIP, who died two turns later with absolutely nothing I could have done to prevent it.

FUCK YOU, THIN MEN!!!

(seriously, that poison-spit skill might not do much damage, but it's perfectly accurate over any distance, and more than once it has caused my rookies to panic and shoot each other)

This is why, when going up against T & HINMEN Law Firm, one should always pack Medkits abound.

Council Mission aborted with three rookies dead and not a promotion in sight, this bullshit is getting on my nerves.

I had already used it to heal one of my dudes T_T

Everyone else had grenades, because those are one of the few weapons that a bunch of squaddies can effectively use at that level.

Which is why you should carry several and have a Support with triple-medkit action. If you don't then it's your own fault for not being good enough for X-Com.

Anyway, on Classic and Impossible you have bigger things to worry about on escort missions. Namely, your own people going fuckkill insane and shooting the escort.

Like I said:

This is still the first month. With the inevitable wounds and deaths, I'm lucky to have an entire team of squaddies.
