I'm kinda scared to assault the base and deal with the mind control.

Maybe I'll do it when I train my second team. No one died in two months now. It's a new record.

Also, I'm never gonna get plasma pistols. Sectoids are extinct now.

I was thinking about getting a mod or something for this, but for some reason Nexusmods.com isn't loading for me.
Anywhere else supply mods or can someone see if its just my internet screwing with me or something...

Hmm. I just do my own modding using resource hacker. Kind of the hard way, but I've been too lazy to bother with downloading and learning the newer mod kits.

@majikero: Sectoid Commanders have plasma pistols, so you can always get those from them.

Yessss...

Once I get that plasma pistol and the last pistol upgrade, my elite sniper team will be complete.

Man, I got to the base by the time I got laser guns. Everyone died before I could get the key made.

Wow, in my experience that is an extremely late time to get lasers. I'm usually running around with roughly full plasma by then.

It's not really that late if you somehow manage to catch a outsider by the second month.

Plasma rifles will spoil you. Don't get used to one-shot things. I learned that the hard way when things just won't DIE.

Why the fuck do elite mutons get 30 defense bonus? I got a 60% chance to hit them when they're not in cover.

Correction: Plasma Sniper Rifles.

Plasma Rifles, in my experience, will soon run into tough enemies with enough health to take a couple shots. Or they miss. Plasma Sniper Rifles with the Headshot ability, however, 1-hit pretty darn near everything, and missing doesn't happen often unless you fire at close range or inexperienced snipers.

Then again, easy difficulty.
I'd imagine Classic and Easy are significantly different.

I know it's not that much but I manage to bag enough mutons to equip the whole team early on.

I can pretty much kill everything with it and I abuse the grapple and the move bonus of skeleton armor. I actually lost more men in titan armor before I got use to not having the bonus of skeleton armor.

I'm actually trying to have 2 snipers in the team. I skip the good ground bonus for the gunslinger. I doubt they'll leave the bug there forever.

Got this game recently and just finished a Normal Ironman Run.

I have all sorts of things to say about what I noticed and experienced in this game. Let's begin;

Apparently Spoilerception is not possible.

Anyway, I plan to do a Classic Ironman Run soon.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

Might as well go straight for Impossible Ironman. It can and has been done without losing a single nation to the xenos scum.

What? Which lucky/haxing bastard did this?

I can't even see it being possible with all the panic, you can't get enough satellites and control rooms up in time, it is literally impossible because you have to wait for engineers as well.
