Let me tell you of the tale
of Manuelle Testosterson
Everywhere he left a trail
of dead aliens, large and thin

His skin was dark, with a great full beard
A fearsome sight, I think
But his hair and armor, so weird
was a shocking hue of pink

Early on he made a friend
A man by the name of Long Chen
With his rockets he would defend
the squad, time and time again

Long Chen was caught in a firefight
his health gone down to one
The sectoids had him in his sight
It seemed Long Chen was done

But Manuelle would have none of that
though a mere rookie at the time
with his rifle, and a rat a tat-tat
he halted their heinous crime

Manuelle, promoted to an assault
He killed aliens so masterfully
With his shotgun he was worth his salt
and he saved the squad repeatedly

Time had passed, Chen and Manuelle
both made it to the top
With rocket and shotgun shell
It seemed they'd never stop

The alien base was their next mission
a fight that would never end
Manuelle executed their tactician
though we had lost many men

More time had passed, more soldiers levied
Four more reached the rank of Colonel
Two snipers, a support, and a second heavy
the 6 formed a crew eternal

Under the leadership of Testosterson
Their pink haired elite boss
For 17 straight missions they won
And had not even a single loss

Then time had come and passed again
as it's very prone to do
And soon Manuelle and Chen
faced the final challenge with their crew

Manuelle was the team's best psionic
no others matched him in fame
With a strong mind, but still built like a brick
and 76 kills to his name

Entering the gollop chamber
his powers had gone alight
He, of course, had no sense of danger
But still, something wasn't right

The temple ship, now being raided
But every shot Manuelle made a miss
Testosterson seemed quite faded
while the others continued their blitz

Time had passed, to the penultimate round
And two sectopods awoke
The fight raged on, but with a terrible sound
Long Chen, best friend had croaked

The sectopods had drawn His ire
And he decided he had enough
He ran and gun, and with a rapid fire
the first Sectopod was snuffed

The second, without a scratch
turned and shot Testosterson twice close range
Testosterson, without a match
was still standing with a look deranged

One last round, and the second fell
though Testosterson was barely alive
They would not yet sound the knell
because FuknGandalf had arrived

The final challenge, the Ethereal
had taken root in Gandalf's mind
A dangerous extra-terrestrial,
but Manuelle ran in from behind...

And so the earth was saved
from now thanks to Manuelle
Never forget those engraved,
especially Long Chen who fell...

You type that as if it is a bad thing.

Dammit, I lost all my high ranking personnel to sectopods and elite mutons. Why do I lose all my good men after something new shows up?

Am I that bad at this game?

Why the fuck can sectopods teleport in the middle of my team?

That's a known bug. I haven't had a sectopod do it, but mutons have managed to teleport right up to me several times now. The devs have stated that they're working on it, so hopefully that'll go away with the next patch.

Kinda funny seeing beserkers smash through the hull of an alien ship. What are they, alien hulk?

I think my men are more survivable in skeleton armor than titan. I just love to abuse the grapple.

Yes, they are.

You shoot them and they get angry.
They charge through alloy walls.
They "MUTON BERSERKER SMASH!"

I don't understand how those UFOs even survive the crashes.  They say the alloy is super strong, but anytime it gets hit it shatters.  After a short firefight half the walls end up blown out.  You'd think the weapons on the interceptors would just blast the thing apart in a couple shots.

My first experience with a sectopod was where one teleported right next to my sniper.  My squad was all spread out, getting ready to fight it where it used to be, then, blam, it's like "Hi guys"

It didn't end well.  I ended up aborting the mission with 3 of the 6 i started with.

You know, I've never actually seen a Berserker break through a wall before.

I have. Its like "OH YEA!" Except instead of bringing kool-aid, it brings a beatdown.

This will generally only happen when you take cover on the far side of a wall and he does a charge attack. I am not sure if the ai obeys line of sight for this, I know they ignore it for grenade throws.

I've seen them break a wall.

Saw muton group inside a ship. The berserker is too close and I only got two men to shoot him so I ran away. One turn later. It smash through a wall..... next to a door.

I just lost my cpt. lights out to a group of 7 floaters and 3 mutons. she was the only one with a medkit and was critically wounded. will never make that mistake again.

How often do you guys upgrade interceptors? I always want to just upgrade the troops and leave interceptors alone, but lately theyve been getting shot down when i see large UFOs

I got 2 laser armed interceptors in each continent. It can shoot down large craft but I doubt it can shoot down battleships.

I'm doing a modded game where UFOs show up a lot more often, so I have to upgrade quickly to avoid losing too many nations to panic when the larger ones get away.

During my vanilla run, I think I upgraded fairly quickly early on and then relied mostly on the dodge/aim abilities to keep my interceptors alive until I got the Firestorm.

Yay. After losing my elite team when I switched to full titans and some archangels, I manage to train up a new team and adapt to the elite mutons. Sectopods still give me trouble but I finally got HEAT rounds on one of the heavies.

My rookie team somehow survived a terror mission where ALL the aliens are alerted on 3 turns. Only 2 people got blasted by the sectopod and they both lived.

Who knew that the 10 defense on the skeleton armor makes that big of a difference. I also miss the grapple.
