The only problem here is that the game is rated M, and I'm only 12
(DON"T JUDGE ME!) :-[
Honestly, I consider age ratings nonsense. I played Halo when I was about... 10 to 12. And Halo is far more violent than XCOM.

Did I grow up to be an unstable monster? ...Not really.
I was playing Turok (the N64 game) around that age, which if anything was even more violent :P

I was playing Loaded (PS2) when I was six. Nothing is more violent.

In some places they refuse to sell games with higher age ratings to people that are under 18 or whatever.

I live in those places. However, my dad liked the games and didn't really care what I played.

Whoa, we're headed for a derail here :o

Are they really? Low damage potential, remarkably easy to pop, poison can be annoying I guess...

Eh...they're dangerous early on in the game, since they are generally more accurate than your troops and can easily one-shot your guys. Once you get a bit of tech they're much easier to deal with. Only thing I ever really have to worry about from them is flanking issues, and floaters cause me similar problems.

Thinmen arn't that dangerous if you know what you are doing in the later early game

But for most people who just started playing the game their ability to show up anywhere with high accuracy and a guaranteed hit.

The thing about many missions with Thinmen is that they require expediency in a game that punishes rushing. So they require the player to be fast but intelligent about it at the same time. Something quite difficult to do.

It is why some people have an impossible time with escort missions, because they go so slow they easily get surrounded, and others find it incredibly easy to do, because they knew to plant soldiers to kill spawning thinmen.

Mind you between the three starting enemies (Sectoids, Floaters, and Thinmen) the Thinmen are the most dangerous and they are often the ones who will manage to land a hit even later in the game.

It is the one skill I think players should learn is how to take the fastest most ground covering turns as possible without putting yourself in danger.

Actually, escort missions are easy if you take your time. The Thin Men only show up in a couple of waves in my experience, based on how close the civilian/politician/whatever is to the Skyranger. And of course they never target the civilian before you get close enough to activate them.

The only time I had trouble with then men was when I decided to train up some rookies with a nice bomb escort mission...

I swear, there were not only a dozen thin men on the map to start with, but at least a dozen that dropped down all around my the turn after I disabled the bomb.

Killed everyone but my non-rookie escort, who killed the last six on his own.

Yes, but it also minimizes your odds of losing either one of your valuable soldiers or the mission objective.

Honestly, the only times that speed is a requirement are
A) Bomb missions
B) One of your dudes is in trouble and needs cover so he can retreat.

Thin Men are wimpy in my opinion. I triggered, oh, 3 squads of 3 at once and at worst someone got mildly hurt.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Thin men have the fortunate habit of not taking cover on their first turn, especially the ones who drop down on VIP missions. Making them easier to kill in one or two shots.

I think they cannot move after falling from the sky.
