More importantly, perhaps, X-COM knows more about what they're dealing with. Regular military are presumably kept in the dark as much as possible to avoid security leaks.

I can imagine that.

"Sir, what are we fighting?"
"Terrorists son"
"But sir, they look like giant insects and on the last mission that thing laid eggs in will"
"We...Are...Fighting...Terrorists."
This sounds interestingly like the plot of the Starship Troopers movie.

If anyone wants footage (both spoiler singleplayer and multiplayer), you might want to head over here. SayuriUliana is collecting all the footage there. Written articles too.

Just want to put this out there, again. It's got all the footage in one place, for your viewing pleasure. Just want to save dogstile (who's doing a good job by the way) some time. And myself, since RL is throwing a few wrenches my way.

Eh, i'll keep throwing out videos as they pop up and letting people know new ones are out, but yes, that link is awesome and everyone should have it saved :)

As above - a huge thanks for most of the videos, but I'm now going to limit the amount I view.

I pre-ordered this game, and it's the first pre-order (aside from the usual FIFA for me) I've made for a long, long time. I'm so excited about this game, which is ridiculous for me as I rarely get excited about any release as they usually disappoint!

I say limit, but I'm probably not going to watch another video or view another picture from now. I want my XCOM experience to be unique to me and that means no spoilers. I can't fecking wait.

I'm in the same boat! The last game I pre-ordered was probably the new AvP... yeah, that experience really put me off pre-ordering things. But I happily added my fraction of a percent to Steam's pre-order tiers for XCom.


My only complaint so far is that multiplayer looks a bit... rock-paper-scissor-ish. Did you bring a psi-heavy build, and your opponent's got dual Cyberdisks? You've got Chryssalids and Muton Berserkers, and the other guy brought Floaters and Archangel snipers? Welp, sorry, you may as well surrender immediately.

(Plus, most multiplayer games have been incompetent players, which leads to much yelling at the screen...  :'()

I suppose that means for multiplayer you're gonna have to try and vary it up. I know i'm definitely taking at least one anti-cyberdisk unit. Those things look painful. Especially with that whole death blossom ability.

I won't be playing any of the multiplayer at all, it's a feature that genuinely will not be looked at by me.

I just hope it doesn't feel like time has been taken away from polishing the single-player experience to work on a half-arsed multiplayer component.
