Looking at the original Enemy Unknown armor sprites I kinda like the way they look today, the generic early 90's look seems to fit the game.

A power suit is not really a mech suit. Though as late game tech, some sort of mech suit could replace the battle tanks and it would work, I think.

Powersuits are suits in which the person's limbs are more or less int he limbs of the suit itself. There may be a bit of extra stuff jutting out like the shins and the forearms that don't have human bits in them, but for the most part I think this description of a powersuit is accurate. I've never heard of a mech suit before. I know of mechs but anything where mech and suit came together I'm not too familiar with and not too sure that such a thing even exists.

I think the distinction is a practical one. Power suits fit the role of very very very heavy infantry.  In that they can still go to where most infantry can move to, yet retain a huge edge over most mechanically unaided troops. Mechs are akin to tanks that for some reason use legs in stead of tracks.

I have to admit, the body builder space marine is really overdone, and I will miss the gambit style armour. But yeah, here's hoping it's good.

No I admit your perfectly right. The Xcom unit was supposed to be some sort of sci-fi CIA or special forces

Not Space Marines...

I'd love to hear the reasoning behind that statement.

Funny that you mentioned that. First they made Laser Squad Nemesis and brought it to Micropose, but they said that they wanted a larger scope title to be in line with their Civilization games, so they fashioned Laser Squad Nemesis into X-COM, by giving it geospace, management and everything that you can do without the tactical missions. I mean, is it proper to make such comments on these boards, what are we, kindergardeners?

So we just got some news that a lot of us have been hoping to get for quite some time.  A brilliant game is about to be remade by what is one of (if the the) most qualified teams to do so.

Then we spend like half the thread bitching about armour design.  The fuck?

I think its a bit funny that people are already finding a way to show how it couldn't possibly ever live up to the original. So maybe the armor isn't the most inspired design. This is (very probably) concept art anyways. Its good news. Even if this game sucked it would be good news. It means that there is enough interest in the market for this type of game, which means more would come. So everybody just strap in and see how it turns out.

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

You act as if there hasn't been Xcom games after they stopped making Xcom games.

I know of at least Three.

So what? If that horse was dead then people wouldn't still be beating it. Not for long anyways. People obviously want more. This is more.

the only X-Com games after apocalypse that i acknowledge are: UFO: Aftermath, UFO: Aftershock and UFO Afterlight.

eeeyup. but you have to understand the fear that most of the fans (like me) have lived through after XCOM by 2K was announced.

Firaxis fucked up Civilisation. Now they will fuck up X-Com. I guess you must be too young to remember the good old Firaxis ;)
