I prefer Gaelic. You know how Buaidh no Bas is pronounced?

Bwee no Ba, basically.

Sounds adorable and ridiculous yet it means "Victory or Death."

Highlanders so tough, don't care about sounding manly when they tell you you're gonna get fucked.

Probably sounds more manly when a large man with a larger sword is shouting it in your face :P

Vigilo confido is pretty open-ended without knowing the exacts of intended context, but my take was something to the effect of "Rest assured, we are watching."

So then the council representatives catch could be interprered as a declaration of solidarity instead of a warning not to mess up. Neat

Granted, "Don't mess up" is a motto that would capture the spirit embodied in Xcom's gameplay very well.

ALL IS LOST. OUR HUBRIS HAS BROUGHT THIS HELL UPON US.
Bit late on this and this thread in general but OH GOD OH MAN OH GOD OH MAN.

Is this a change that only gets installed with the DLC or is it on the base game too?

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.
