Ethereals kind of suck in multiplayer, at least in 10k point games.  I mean yeah, they're strong, but they're too expensive.  You can't win with one ethereal and a rookie.  I'm actually getting kind of tired of beating guys who think they can win with ethereals.  Now cyberdisks on the other hand, cyberdisks are fucking bullshit.  I don't know how they got into multiplayer if the devs thought sectopods were too much.

Also, does anyone else find mutons a little disturbing somehow in single-player?  It grabs a soldier you've played for hours and care deeply about, beats them into a mangled heap, then bellows and pounds on its chest.  It's just, I don't know.  It's distressing to watch that happen to someone you care about.

EDIT:  Protip, you can spot enemies in the fog of war by looking for triangular gaps in your movement allowance along walls.

So, um cheating?   :P
Or were you trying to play with a friend who had the same mods? Because otherwise, yeah, I'd bloody well expect that to fail.

No more so than watching a precious soldier be ripped to shreds, moments before the assailant vomits its offspring into the corpse, causing your friend's body to rise as a shambling zombie.  ;)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Booyah! Now I join the 0.1% of people who've beaten Classic Iron Man!

Edit: Also, does anyone know what those other achievements are for? Disaster Averted, Saved to Savior, No Sweat, Rising Dragon, etc.

NOTE: Since as of an hour or two before your post, the Steam servers listed it as being 0%, it's possible that you were, in fact, the FIRST person to beat it on Classic Iron Man.
Hahaha, nah. I was probably the guy who tipped it from 0.04% to 0.05%.

I tried hosting a multiplayer game with unlimited points.  It's pretty intense, but you'll probably want to stick with people you know, and go on some kind of honor system.  I went with a full squad of kickass dudes with kickass names, he brought three ethereals and three maxed snipers in archangel suits.

so much for that

My save files got corrupted... and now I have to start all over again.

WAIT!

Nevermind my GAME is corrupted and won't save properly

It seems to be linked to the number of save files I have. Given that I save constantly.

I see!

It cannot handle more then 100 saves.

*GLITCH*

XCOM cannot handle more then 100 saves!

That is sorta annoying, although I haven't found it a major impediment to any of those abilities. It does tend to result in enemies almost always being able to find some cover except in cases where you've already got a soldier on overwatch and they walk into it. You (the player), on the other hand, can get soldiers stuck out in the open if you aren't careful.

Also, minor correction: The enemy gets a free defensive turn when they see you, not the other way around. I've spotted enemy groups using the sniper's vision device and only triggered them once one of my people got too close.

I should make it more obvious

DO NOT HAVE MORE THEN 100 SAVES ON YOUR SAVE FILES!

THE GAME GLITCHES IF YOU TRY TO SAVE MORE THEN 100 SAVES!

We get it.  I play Ironman so I only have one save per active game.

There's still plenty of chances to use grenades and stuff.  If it weren't for the automatic relocation you could probably just murder groups before they get a chance to act.

Well I may be wrong... My game could just be broken...

which is a shame because I lost soo much time

Confirmation: My game is broken forever!

Whoa dude. You do need to repeat the glitch twenty times and overreact. Just find some tech support, or alternatively just reinstall your game.

Apperantly if I load my corrupted files it corrupts the game.

You must absolutely repeat the glitch twenty times and freak out before contacting tech support or reinstalling.

Well then delete the Corrupted Files, duh. :P

If they have your save games on them, then tough luck. Its not like you're going to find some magical solution. They were doomed the second the files got corrupted. Just move on, bro.

Edit: Actually, what I want to know is why the hell do you have 100 save files?
