Floating shrubbery?
« on: November 17, 2007, 05:21:00 pm »

I had started a new fortress in a loamy area and was cutting out a jutting cliff face with lots of trees and plants over it, and noticed that the grass that was over the loam was still there. It's walkable, you can build things on it, etc.
I know that that when you dig out rock it leaves a level of floor above it, but it still seems silly to me that you can build on just a level of grass.

Sorry if this has already been reported.

Related to the current cave-in system, which may or may not be a prototype. If you separate the "floating peninsula" with channels, it'll come crashing down.

My stray dogs often chase fire imps back into the magma pipe and then continue fighting while burning and drowning in the lava. Truly their loyalty knows no bounds, but perhaps it should.

This phenomenon is the same as building artificial floors out from a cliff quite a ways. It's silly but until better physics are put in, I enjoy it! I like putting prisoners way the hell out on a jutting bridge from the highest cliff. I need to throw some animals off one...
