It depends really on what your own opinion is of using third party utilities. I came under fire earlier for suggesting using runesmith genocide to kill alligators. Cheating in DF is dependent on the users opinion. I for one do not mind nor care.

Like everyone has said before, cheating doesn't really apply to DF. Even in succession fortresses, people often don't care what you do or how you do it as long as you don't completely screw up the map.

Personally, I try to stick to vanilla DF as much as possible with the only 'cheating' I do being modifying the raws, like making all animals tameable or changing my popcap so I don't need a dwarf culling system around my entire map.
