One day, I'm going to hollow out the ground right below the surface all around my fortress then drop a gigantic artificial floor on it, sending them crashing through ~5 z-levels of earth and making my fortress a natural soil/stone tower in a giant pit. That'll show the alligators and other annoying animals!
