Clockwork Noire : An Illustrated Mystery [Updated: 1/15/12]
« on: January 04, 2012, 10:02:22 am »

"Oh, so you've finally arrived?  How was the trip?  Dreadful weather we've been having here in Calton lately, though Calmery has always had such dreary weather, sometimes I forget what the sun and stars look like it's always cloudy. Ha ha ha haha.  Yes.. well I shouldn't keep you or Lord Havershaw waiting, he's currently bed ridden as I'm sure you were informed in the letter.  Oh were are my manners!  My name is Arthur Devly, and I am a steward for Lord Havershaw, and I'm sorry, but I was not told your name."

>Introduce yourself :

*note you are the visible character, the visible character is not Arthur Devly

Facts about the world-
  • This world is clockpunk, which is pretty much steampunk but with clockworks instead of steam.
  • Guns exist and are quite common, as are rapiers.  Your character owns both.
  • You are Calmerian, you speak Calmery which is of course just plain english.

The rest will come up when necessary, or by request.

I'm gonna save you some time, Calmery isn't France/French.  That would be Parasala.

"Pleasure to meet you Mr. Devly.  My name is James S. Boone, but you can call me Jack."
"Hm.. yes well, Lord Havershaw is ready to speak to you."

"Lord Havershaw?  The detective is here."
"Investigator, I don't have any ties to the guard."
"Yes, of course, pardon me."

"James Boone, pleasure to meet you Lord Havershaw, I understand your daughter has gone missing?"
*COUGH COUGH* "Granddaughter, for a man of my age to have such a beautiful child would be a sin against mankind."
"..." "If you're up to it sir I'd like to ask you a few questions about your granddaughter's disappearance."
"Yes yes" *Cough* "I will answer all your questions at the best of my abilities."

Spoiler: Notepad (click to show/hide)

I decided to be nice, the "S" does in fact stand for Slack.  Which means that his name is James Slack Boone, or Jack Slack.

Time to ask questions, gotta mystery to solve, I'm not gonna update again til at least 3 valid questions are asked, but I won't move on til you guys feel you've exhausted all leads with him.

Facts about the world:

In Calmery "Lord" is a title earned by business men/property owners and such who provide great services to the country, you aren't born into it.  Think of it like being knighted, but in Calmery, Knights are specifically military, guard(police), or other martial earned titles.

OH GOD HE HAS NO EYES. WE HAVE NO EYES.

Fun Fact: When drawing this guy I did in fact give him eyes and a nose, and it looked perrty good, but for some reason I decided to settle on the faceless look again, not sure why I did, it was really early in the morning.

edit- I remember, it has to do with the way paint brushes work in Paint.net, they don't paint solid, which leave little off colored outline stuff making it significantly harder to edit quickly (filling and such)

I'm pretty sure it's related to your avatar. It has no eyes.

I don't think you need them anyway, what with you being an ancient entity from space.

You know what's a really good conspiracy you could be a part of? (as well as everyone else)

It's the conspiracy of not derailing this game, pretty cool stuff

Right.

((imagine this in Cole Phelp's voice))

What was the last time you saw your granddaughter, before she disappeared?

What was the last time you saw your granddaughter, before she disappeared?

I couldn't imagine it any other way.
