Most people reformat their machine when they know it's truly, truly infected. What's going on in this thread is effectively a man with gangrene on his limb asking how he can keep it.

There's no point in formatting the moment something goes wrong. The viruses are gone and it was never truly, truly infected.

A few hours of your time isn't worth the knowledge your computer is actually clean, rather than "probably" clean?

Are you sure it's not partly the AV software complaining about loading users avatar images from IP's that are on a blacklist? that would cause connections outside of bay12's domain.

Don't tell anyone that you can see their shadows. If they hear you telling anyone, if you let them know that you know of them, they will get you.

It most likely was. It would explain the red x avatars. Ever since I installed Nod32, I've had no IP warnings from those sites.

Looking at the IP addresses:

The 91.211.116.0 - 91.211.119.255

are registered to:

person:         Zharkov Nikolay
address:        Ukraine, Kyiv, Entuziastov str. 29, of. 42
phone:          +38-044 587-83-16
nic-hdl:        ZN210-RIPE
mnt-by:         ONIK-MNT
changed:        support@netassist.kiev.ua 20081211
source:         RIPE

The address resolves to an image hosting service called Piccy.info

Most likely whatever overly paranoid "anti-malware" application was blocking it and throwing up it's paranoia inducing messages, because some people have their avatars hosted on Piccy.info.

There were some allegations of SPAM botnets being run from the servers in that range, most likely he got piccy.info got infected, and malwarebytes blacklisted it, and didn't remove it from their blacklist.

Good choice with NOD32, it's the only pay AV I recommend.

Yeah, NOD32 if you are willing to pay for antivirus is the best one to choose.
