Unicorns in Tropical Coniferous Forest
« on: January 04, 2012, 12:38:04 am »

So I started my fortress in a Joyous Wilds tropical coniferous forest, but there aren't any unicorns on the map like I was hoping.

Will these horned beasts show up on the map later if I wait, or do I need to find a different embark area?

Thanks,

Zahin

They show up in any forest or shrubland. Just wait. You'll get some eventually.

Note that not all biomes have every creature that could appear in that biome type. You might be in a place that happens to have no unicorns, in which case they'll quite naturally never show up. On the other hand, you might be in a place where it seems nothing but unicorns come. Regardless, there's a limited number of each type of creature that can appear, so if you want unicorns, kill off any and all non-unicorn creatures that appear on the surface.
