1) The very first sentence with the childhood dream stuck in scarp might bamboozle you, that's more or less a throwaway line, that came to be from Le Petit Nicolas theme song. Not sure how, tho.

2) There's quite a number of movie quotes in this one, most numerous are ones from Shrek, for its oldest Czech dub is golden. Others are from 12 tasks for Asterix, and the Mezgá family, which are all cited by Pepa. The Robots cameo is there because we have harvest festivals associated with Bigweld, if I recall correctly he's singing about them at one point in the movie.

3) Setting fries on fire is another thing Mates did in the kid safety show, he's got pretty bizarre track record, but that's why we love him. I've joked a few times about starting a cult around him, which did appear here. Why followers of Mates don't wear legwear is a bit more complicated - basically the show has animated segments in between the live action ones, and the cartoon stand-in for Mates has trousers colored white in the second season, and it looks like he has no trousers. Once this comes to your mind, you can't unsee it.

These family lore bits are really freakin' weird, I'm sorry 

4) Mekbakery is inherently associated with exploding, that's why Mekbakers are relieved it did not happen.

5) "Velký záhon", or "Big Flowerbed", is a reference to old movie "Nezralé Maliny (Unripe Raspberries)", about old classmates who decide to have a reunion event for one last time. One of them, mr. Šandroch is resident in a Retirement Home and is a know troublemaker there. There's a scene where an old lady is complaining about him to the head nurse and tells her about all his horrible deeds, one being "and, excuse my language, he urinated on the big flowerbed". Here it's just a hint that Gerolt couldn't find restroom.

Then there is the line with the customhouse which is from fairy tale "Tři veteráni (Three Veterans)", that's about it.

6) Nobod Murf is Nobody Smurf from Hanna Barbera Smurfs, and we hate him.

That was an interesting little story, while I was completely lost when it came to some of the references I still liked what I read.

Also I do not remember a nobody smurf, probably doesn't hurt that I didn't really watch that show because I did not like smurfs.

Yeah, the smurfs themselves were kinda the worst part about it. There were three separate Czech dubs for various channels here, and they didn't pitch their voices up in a single one (Thank God!) like they did in some other languages, so they were tolerable at least, still not great. That was when Czech dubs were still worth something...

We have quite weird relationship with the show, as some episodes were great, some were okay, and the bad ones had were still very enjoyable to laugh at, which actually brings me to Nobody Smurf. It was one of I think three episodes we couldn't stand, and they've seemed to have the exact same formula:

- have a new annoying smurf exclusive to the episode, with rather extremely lame quirk (quite hilarious seeing how low they'll go this time)
- have them being useless for 90% of the episode, then out of nowhere "prove" their worth to the community

I think you get the idea of what I'm talking about, these types of stories seem to infect quite a number of franchises. So of course I had to make fun of it in this comic.

There's was one, one episode, where Smurfs were legit badass., and it's my favorite - "Smurfs and the Howlibird". First, Papa creates a weapon of mass destruction when trying to make a fertilizer. He orders his fellows to dump it in a wasteland, but the incompetent fools accidentally create a mutant FB out of baby vulture, which starts to wreak havoc and lay waste to the village.

They then evacuate the village, take shelter in an abandoned watchtower, make a freakin' ballista out of a crossbow, and take a last stand against the monster. Absolutely amazing, and the only time I sided with the blue buffoons (the villains were far, far more likeable).

I could talk for a very long time on this topic, but I'll cut my Smurf rant here. It was inevitable.

No new art, sadly (apart from the comic) . But I acquired a sewing machine, should practice with it a lil' bit. No new fabric,  tho, only few scraps of linen. Should be enough for some new headbands...
