Touchdrains was a legendary moonstone bracelet.
This is a moonstone bracelet. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encircled with bands of rectangular native platinum cabochons. This object menaces with spikes of chicken bone.
In the year 83, Touchdrains was created in Glazefondled by the dwarf Ducim Notchrim. He presented it to the human king of the dwarves, Etur Bridgetames, who made it into a symbol of his rule.
As a human ruling the long-lived dwarves, Etur often felt the looming pressure of his mortality. Before long, he was seduced by the dark arts and sought out the necromancers of Bittencrafted to learn the secrets of immortality. He abdicated the throne and became a necromancer himself. His successor was queen Tekkud Shieldworthy, another human. Unfortunately for her, Etur had taken Touchdrains with him to the tower, leaving her without a strong symbol of leadership.
For 32 years, Touchdrains was lost to the dwarves, until the coming of the adventurer Zulban Trumpettame. A human countess sought for the artifact's return. No doubt she believed the bracelet would strengthen the queen's rule, and help quell the racial unrest of the dwarves who were unhappy with the disproportionate number of human nobles in the kingdom. Hearing the tale of Touchdrains, Zulban and his companions were outraged that such a treasure had been stolen by a foul necromancer. They assaulted the tower, but were quickly overwhelmed by the hordes of undead. Zulban put down nearly 80 of the walking corpses, but more kept coming. With one of his companions dead, he gave up on a frontal assault and instead kited the zombies away from the tower with his superior speed, running back to confront the helpless necromancers. He quickly spotted Etur and his prize, and charged him. He cut off the necromancer's hand to free Touchdrains, then stabbed the former king through the throat and left him to bleed out. If there had been time, Zulban would have wiped them all out in vengeance, but the zombies were returning and would soon surround the tower. He made his escape with his remaining companion, stopping briefly to retrieve the body and weapon of their fallen comrade. They cremated him in the magma-flooded depths of an abandoned fortress and then set off for the capital. There they returned Touchdrains to its rightful place in the halls of Questsalves.
