It is really neat. Your character is also pretty cute.
If I can offer a bit of criticism, the glow around the panels on the sides dims when the candles go out, while logically it seems like it should intensify, since it's not being drowned out by other light sources now. And the screen has no glow at all, but it looks like it should have some, since it's also lit? At least, this is how it seems to me, I'm by no means an expert at lighting or anything.

Aye, it was an error I realized too late. The mask on the black layer that fades in was mismatched to the glow size. As for the screen, I'd initially tried giving it a glow, but due to the lines of the background, it wound up looking rather odd.

To me it looks like the panels would be the brighter light sources, not the candles. The screen especially looks weird at fullbright but without projecting any glow around it.

I usually make the error of expression over reality, but that scene had me thinking it was more of a 'fade out' kind of transitional gif, like a memory or something
Avis is spot on though! That did occur to me but I didn't think of it like that (quite the opposite given the context I mentioned there)

Also some electronics nowadays, as I understand (and can be totally wrong), can lack glow or have it so subtle that the same effect is still present without ambient lighting in the background.

A better idea might be to shift the brightness down and overlay some sort of blue filter after she blows the candles out.

Quick-ish painting. Been thinking about getting into the SCA, if I do it'll probably be fighting as a Hospitaller Sergeant c. 1300.

The cross on the tabard looks fantastic. The folds on the cloth are just perfect.

Did you download some kind of custom brush for the chainmail, or make one yourself using a stock photo? I didn't notice it until I zoomed in, but the pattern is noticeable, like it was put in there with paint bucket. I'm not complaining though. Zoomed out, with the lighting on it, I can't tell and it looks very natural. I quite like it.

And now for the complaints:
- The helmet is, frankly, really sloppy. The lines are really wobbly and the perspective is inconsistent. I think you need to be more patient when drawing your lines. Maybe spend a little more time sketching and doing construction.
- His head and neck don't line up with where his spine should be, relative to the torso. I wish it were moved over to the left just a bit. Again, looks like a problem that should have been fixed when you were sketching.
- The chainmail is too form-fitting around his arm. Here's a good video of LindyBeige wearing tailored chainmail. Notice that it is not tight, but it fits. The curves of his arm shouldn't be suggested at all unless his arm is lifted and he isn't wearing any padding underneath (he should be).
- Shouldn't his coif be tucked into his tabard? Man, now I want a tank top with a Hospitaller cross on it though.
