...I'm a little late, but wow that box-house you rendered Soli, reminds me so much of the textures from Megaman Legends. Greatest game of the early 2000's.

Been getting into Low-Fi 3D lately, and decided to develop it into a visual style for a game I'm prototyping. Here's some experiments:

Boxy things like this are relatively easy to texture, since all the surfaces are nice and square. It still took several hours!

Texture Mapping that mimics the look of sprites is pretty tedious, especially on irregular shapes. Basically, each corner of the 3D surface needs to map to a coordinate on a 2D image.

Note the impossibility of mapping square pixels onto triangular faces; hiding the seams takes some fancy juju.

Pardon the holes and the weird pointy bits; those are the bones that the mesh is rigged to, so they can be animated.

When I'm done, they're going to get a low-res Pixel-esque texture like the Adobe structure, but I did a quick paint-over for the time being.

Funny you say that!

Megaman Legends, is basically my primary visual inspiration. I love how they use low-poly and low res textures, but make it look super stylish! I definitely want to go for a feel like that.

I'm just going to go right ahead and make excuses for allll the mistakes by saying that I drew that in half an hour, late at night, with nothing but a 4B pencil and a sketchpad.

But this sketchpad is really nice! It's 11g/sm, which is something like three times the weight of regular plain paper. Drawing on it is a dream. It also feels like a waste.

Needless to say, that was a waste. I doubt your excess is quite so bad as that seen in my class
