The eyes, maybe? They look too round and also flat to have that kind of highlights on them.

Could be. I mean, i usually just draw eyes like that because stylistic choice and/or laziness, but it's possible that i messed it up due to rust. That, and i was feeling like trash at the time being, which really doesn't make my doodles any prettier.

Dunno, looks perfectly alright to me. Nothing uncanny about it; though I may not be the best one to talk to about that.

Huh, odd. I'm not sure why, but sometimes when i look at it just the right way, it just unnerves the shit out of me, as if there's something wrong or missing that i can't place my finger on. Maybe it's because my brain can't quite decide whether it's a dog or human (due to the obscured ears), and sometimes ends up registering it as a human, in which case it would indeed look horribly wrong. :v

I think he needs more fluff. He looks pretty naked right now, which might contribute to looking a bit too human.

Actually, looking at it again, the snout seems like it's been smashed flat. The circle there frames it like the bottom of a drinking glass and the lines don't curve around like they normally would on a snout-like protrusion.

I wanna throw out an idea and see what everyone thinks

As a bit of an experiment to help me learn to draw plants (flowers) I was thinking of making a sort of game

It would start with just a green blade of grass and then people would suggest a trait and if it would be dominant or not, the next image would be four new plants and depending on dominance there would be new looking plants, then they would choose one of the four to add a trait to which would result in four new drawings then another trait to another plant and so on and so forth

Would that be something people would like to try?

I dunno about four new drawings. Maybe you start with one plant and pick from two to breed it with?

I'd definitely play a couple turns!

Second version. I was trying to create a sort of hand-painted aesthetic with more defined form rather than the last attempt's generic-textured look. While deciding which one is 'better' is pretty much entirely subjective, I'm happier with this one because I tried to emulate a specific style and more-or-less succeeded, which is more valuable to me than having a more realistic but less intentional texture.
